Welcome to the Update 9 Preview on Lamannia!

I will again be your Coordinator on Lamannia. What does that mean? Simply put, it's my job to make sure things run as smoothly as they can on Lamannia while you are previewing. I'll be making sure the bugs entered in the bug system are getting processed, gathering known issues and release notes, and helping you to focus on topics we are looking for feedback on at the time we need it.

Since even before Update 8 made it out the door, the development team has been working hard on Update 9, and they have outdone themselves yet again. The Content teams has put together four new level 15+ quests, based in the Harbor. Our Systems folks have gone mad. This release they are giving us new Prestige Enhancements lines for Sorcerers and Favored Souls, along with some updates to existing lines. They have also made a balancing pass on spells, reduced monster immunities, added new combat animations for special attacks, and come up with some great new items. Not enough? Well, later in the Preview cycle you will get a chance to see Crafting. And, let's not forget the bug fixes the entire team worked on. If you were involved with the Lamannia Preview for Update 8 and still have that client installed, you can simple patch up and start previewing Update 9. If you need to install a new Lamannia client, see the link in my signature for an Update 8 installer. If this is your first time previewing on Lamannia, check out this thread for some details on the program.

For Update 9 the Lamannia server has been wiped clean. You can copy up to five your your existing characters from the Live servers to Lamannia using the Character Copy tool. For information on how to copy your characters to Lamannia for the preview, and limitations of the tool, browse to the thread relating to Character Copy.

For some of the Update 9 Preview feedback we are going to be using online surveys, in addition to the standard feedback threads. Official feedback threads will be 'stuck' to the top of the forum they are posted in and will begin with 'Feedback -'. While we appreciate all of the feedback you give us no matter where you post it, please try and post feedback for official topics in the appropriate threads or forums.

I am looking forward seeing and talking to many of you in game on Lamannia during the Update 9 Preview cycle. Don't be surprised if you see the occasional LFM up with some variation of +Thoon as the party leader.

BTW: Tolero, some of the release notes for Lamannia say Acid damage in the mighty reconstruct enhancements and many of the deadly *element* enhancements.

That's working as intended. VIPs get early access to adventure packs. The rest of us will just have to wait until the actual release.

Also, some notable changes that we hadn't heard about already:

New animations have been added to a variety of special melee attacks, including Trip, Sap, and Sunder, make it more apparent when those abilities have been used during combat.

The Righteousness weapon enchantment now turns a weapon "Good" for damage reduction purposes.

Hold Monster, Mass: The spell is now affected by spell resistance.

Shroud of the Lich's prerequisites have been changed to: Level 18 Wizard, Wizard Pale Master III, Toughness, 66 Action Points spent. Any characters that currently possess Shroud of the Lich will possess Shroud of the Vampire, which replaced it at level 12.

New Enhancements:

Shroud of the Zombie
Prerequisites: Wizard Level 6, Wizard Pale Master I
Benefit: You shroud yourself with negative energy and assume many traits of a zombie. While in this form, you hunger for brains, and gain +2 Strength, +2 Constitution, -2 Intelligence, -4 Charisma, and Damage Reduction 5/Slashing. Your unarmed damage is increased by two die steps, but you attack 20% slower than normal. You have +100% critical hit resistance, are healed by negative energy, and are unaffected by positive energy or repair effects, but take double damage from light effects. You are considered undead rather than your original type for the purposes of most effects. This ability costs 25 spell points to activate.

Shroud of the Vampire
Prerequisites: Wizard Level 12, Wizard Pale Master II, Toughness
Benefit: You shroud yourself with negative energy and assume many traits of a vampire. While in this form, you gain +2 Strength, +2 Charisma, and using your dominating powers, generate 25% less threat from spells and attacks, and +2 to the DC's of your Enchantment spells. When making unarmed attacks, you deal 1d6 Constitution damage from blood drain on critical hits. Your unarmed and melee attacks heal you for 1 point of negative energy damage. You have +100% critical hit resistance, are healed by negative energy, and are unaffected by positive energy or repair effects, but take quadruple damage from light effects. You are considered undead rather than your original type for the purposes of most effects. This ability costs 100 spell points to activate.
