Hey Devs,
I like Three barrel cove. A lot of people do. Yes it does not have cool guy named gear, but the quests are fun. So how about a second chapter in that story line? something end game 17+?

I agree that Three Barrel Cove is in need of an overhaul and some developer love. It's a cool pack, but an unpopular one.
I'll be happy with any updates they make out there!

Here is an idea I had to help out 3bc: Tack the Crystal Cove event onto that zone.
-Replace the general mobs out there with the pirate mobs
-Outdoor instance scales to your party and quests have difficulty selection
-Flagging for the Kobold Event is simply completing the other quests that are in the explorer area & Irestone
-Dragonshard cost cut by 50% on all items
-Specific map pieces required to be turned in to open the Kobold Event for 1 run for 1 party (Think Mindsunder)
-Dabloons & compii can drop from any pirate themed quest/dungeon (Blockade Buster, irestone, 3bc, etc)
-Remove the consumables from the box
-Remove the base items from the box and have them drop in the 3bc quests
Just a rough draft, but would fit nicely.

fixed my booboo on map pieces: changed to compass & dabloons

A big part of 3BC being so unpopular is the rather extensive hike into the wilderness to get to the quest you're going to. Then, after grabbing your reward, if you want to run it again, another couple minutes walk back out to the quest again. You could just have a quest opener or window farm on the spot I suppose but I get the feeling that's not the intended way to do it. It scores huge points for flavor, but anyone looking for decent xp/minute will go where the quests are much faster to get to. (there actually is some decent xp out there if you have the right party and knowledge to knock out the quests fast, but in order to maintain high xp/minute you have to window farm it at that point)
In order to "fix" this area maybe put quest givers near the quest entrance or add teleport points after you've completed the quest once. Adding at least some sort of named loot would get some people out there sometimes. I really do like what they tried to do with the first revamp out there, but it actually made me play the quests less than I did before because of all the walking involved.

Seems like a suggestion that the Devs might get on board with since it involves pirates....
But, you'd only get one trip in per completion of the 4 side quests out there, hence my reasoning behind it. Fully upgrading all the level 20 items requires about 33000 shards. While the event is rolling, not such a big deal. In this case you would trade your time for farming 1 map piece vs 300. And would put the time spent ratio in line with IQ/DD. Extremely short quests that you can ransack in about an hour with a couple of folks.
I have a feeling epics will be brought down to GS levels of farming and 'the old thing' while they gear into the 'next big thing'. Which I'm pretty sure is gonna be this new crafting thing.
I'm not saying I would disagree with the shard amount being left alone either consequently. Just my reasons for why they could drop the price in this very narrow brainstorm.
*Edit*
Hmm, appears my edit of the above thread didn't take earlier. I'd changed the thought on the map piece drop to the 4 quests out there each dropping a map piece & having to turn those in for a party in a sub instance to open the cove.

I actually like this suggestion. Seems like it would be easy to implement...would allow Turbine to sell a pack that languishes low on the 'to buy' list. Adds a bit of a 'grind' to get some nice gear (but not too much of one...)

I could get onboard with CC in 3bc.
Perhaps make it a 6 person raid, collect map pieces from the 3bc quests to flag like gianthold, then you can run it every 3 days.
would be sort of a mini shroud.
lower level event named loot could be added to the 3bc quest loot table, allong with some other named stuff. upgradable thru the CC mini raid.
Entrance location were the tavern that became part of the Sentenals pack is, Black Lock?

Each epic teir 3 requires 2,300 shards, plus 205/130 diamonds/emeralds (or vice versa). Assuming all your runs are 300 shards on high levels for the right gems, that's at least eight runs per maxed epic item. A three day timer would put times at almost a month each.
I'd almost rather leave it as just needing a compass and map pieces, but put the map piece count on each individual within the party. Require, oh, 500 pieces with an exclusive carry limit of 1000 so you can only ever make two runs at a time. Have grogs as (BTC, semi-rare) drops in the wilderness areas and from named mobs in CC to allow for limited quick farming. Without the grogs, cut the number needed (and max carrying capacity).
Of course, I doubt they would do this. I'm guessing Turbine want to keep this as a recurring event so wouldn't want to keep it open all year, even in a scaled back form.
