Once again, as else-thread, this was run Solo, using a lvl 11 Ranger AA, on Casual

Over all, great feel, I especially like 'Teh Krayzee' people littering the quest.

I spotted a few 'Artistic' gaps (at least one place where the water in the channel wasn't finished), but I figure that's what one gets on a test server. However, my larger concern was the ease of the encounters. Now, I'm all for having my cake and eating it too, but the fact that I only died once in the quest (and for some reason, my soul stone never dropped) when I managed to get myself surrounded by Renders and Hounds, and was able to take down Mr. Smythe all by my little ol' lonesome, seems to be counter intuitive... I was expecting this New Beholder to be a beast and a half... Enh.. not really... Fairly standard Debuff cycle, with a few new ones slipped in there. Chaos Rage, I believe... It feels like this needs to be extended, or cause the AI to take over one's toon and have him/her start waylaying the party... I'm not sure that's what would've happened, since I just stood there as if 'Held' or 'Dazed'.

As it is, if it weren't for the jacked up teeth and multitudes of eyes, Mr. Smythe seems more like a drinking buddy gone horribly wrong rather than some insidious agent from the Realm of Madness. Give the guy some cajones...

    Do beholders have cajones?

I soloed it on Normal with Ellixia, my level 16 Halfling light Monk.

The ambiance of the quest reminds me very strongly of Silent Hill. I approve of this. Having all the crazy people around definitely added to it. Some of what I found though... wow. Didn't expect it. Not in this game. Thumbs up.

I did notice some of the gaps that the previous poster mentioned. They didn't detract too heavily from the run, though fixing them would make things flow better from an artistic standpoint.

The mobs do not present a steady challenge, IMO. Some of them could wipe an unprepared group, while others are squishier than Drow casters with 0% fort and 6 Con. There should be some variance in the challenge from mob type to mob type, but the peaks and valleys were pretty steep.

For the character I used, the end boss was a joke, even with his debuffs. That said, if I would have used a character without reliable self-healing, it would have been more of a challenge. Still too easy, though. The mid-bosses at the start of the map were more challenging, and they weren't even orange- or red-named.

As others, I enjoyed the feel of the quest. Nice atmosphere. I'm not sure the long distances running wise between encounters helps keep the creepiness up though. It felt quite empty as an environment. Of course that could be intentional but it didn't feel lonely to me, more... half-populated/unfinished.

I was on my pale master, and was not getting the anti-magic from the main eye. Do your new beholders not have this ability, or was he bugged?

BTW I absolutely *LOVED* the atmosphere in this quest. I played it last night with a thunderstorm going on outside IRL and it was awesome.

    (While doign elite solo)
Interesting challenge...nice to see DR creatures that may require a weapon swap.

Things of note: Hounds can easily get stuck in stairwell near the entrance to Smyths mansion leading to easily limiting number engaged at one time.

Whoever worked on the map seems to have painted with rather large NOCLIP brushes. Whether intended or not...it is very noticable. Halfling seems to get stuck on some steps in various places around map.

    Chest surronded by water: brilliant
Internal monlogue: theres clearly gonna be a trap near here....searching for traps
    More searching
Guess no traps....just looks cool and Im just on edge.
    Open chest
HOLY **** TOO MANY SOLO SAFELY.....RETREAT RETREAT
    (While retreating)
    [As more seem to appear as i retreat] **** **** **** ****
(More Taken appear in areas previously explored)
    NONONOnononononononononoonnonononononnonononono
(hear monster say something along the lines of "Im beautiful" along with more rumbling and grumbling)
Die due to laughter (and monsters punching face in)

BUG: Renders in chest/water room turn can invisible again if they are at some great LoS (aka retreating and then using guerlla tactics). They do not become visible again. They still are capable of attacking though. Only visible as a name plaque.

BUG: A taken managed to merge halfway with a wall and levitate above a nonfunctional door near the armor book pickup. Despite his inablity to be targeted for kill....he managed to launch some hefty lougies halfway accross the map.

Overall: Quite enjoyable. Will be moreso when the DM voice gets added. I felt so lonely in there ^_^

They're Tharak Hounds; they can barely walk. To limit the number you engage at once, the only terrain feature needed is a flat plane.

Ever notice that Thaarak hounds always fall over after a few hits? ... it's like they forgot how to walk.

    Default Bug

After doing all options and talking to the guard before Smythe, he will open and close the door if more than 1 person talks to him. Ran with someone and we both talked to him. Door opened, then abruptly shut locking us out of the rest of the quest.

Doesnt quite translate into DDO where atm....they are physically being blocked by their hitbox from exiting the stairwell. Unless theres a specific NoClip there specifically tailored for them there is no reason why the hound is getting stuck. It clearly is small enough to navigate it.

I loved this quest, soloed it on my fvs on hard. Again LOVED it and the music too, the music was awesome especialy that track in the endfight.

About the endfight i can't see how you call it too easy, hespammed prismatic sprays which kept on hitting me with violet beam instantly killing me despite of deathblock. (so embarisngly my lvl 20 fvs died 3 times in that fight)

I ran this on normal with my level 17 sorc. The whole chain is just such a nice change. No more sewers is always a plus in my book. The turbine team really outdid themselves with the graphics, music and design here, it was well, scary and loved the usual quirky humor. I am sure those taken were saying "hey baby, your beautiful"

I vote for more themed quests like this with different graphics and music, right now out of all the new content this and the last two updates are right up there in my favourite quest chains.

Love it, love it, love it!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I heard one say 'I love you' at some point in Storage.

Am I the only one that thinks that the Taken's voices are modeled after Sloth in the Goonies?

They're by far the creepiest enemies in DDO because of this. There's just something unsettling about being surrounded by gimped mutant dogs that keep standing on their hind legs and then falling over like they're playing dead in an attempt to kill you.

Default Love it! But could be harder..

Ran this on my TRed level 18 ranger/fighter/monk (on normal, with a party of 4). It looked good, had a creepy ish feel to it (some moments kind of reminded me of Delerium - one of my all time favorite quests), good storyline, etc. However, it did seem bit too easy (although that could be because of my character's level and the fact we did it on normal). It just didn't seem like enough monsters (I love the new baddies, though; very cool even if they sound something like the mentially handicapped guy who works in the brewery on Family Guy - not Peter lol). Did get temporally stuck on a ladder or two.. But other than that, LOVE it! We ran the entire chain, and enjoyed it throughly (end rewards aren't bad either!).

Was long but good. Only place I was challenged was fighting the guard and the priest that you had to report to. Killed me....

All around a good quest, seemed a little low on the monsters but some of them respawned (or at least they seemed to.) A few got caught in doors (tavern in particular) and seems like the fence into the central park is a little off in terms of jumping over them. No bonus for finding extra people to mark.

    Default Great Quest!

Really enjoyed the 'mood' that was set inside this quest.

The two mini-bosses have a lot of HP's. As they are optional, I assume this is WAI?

I've noticed that if I skip marking the crazy people, I get fewer respawns on the map. WAI? Without marking any people I get very few extra spawns.

I decided on later runs that I'd just skip marking the people to allow me to get through the quest faster. Still got to loot the chest after fighting the bosses, but didn't have to deal with the same amount of respawns. Not sure if this will become common practice. May want to weigh the benefit to that optional objective? Speed vs. XP for the optional and the kill count as it is right now.

There is a rare spawn Pale Fire? When it doesn't show up, I still see it's chest. Maybe there is a specific action that needs to be completed to make it spawn?

There are a couple of mind flayer mages that don't seem to spawn if I don't look into the mirrors on the opposite wall. WAI?

Loved being scared the first time I ran this quest, several times.

The end fight was a bit of a let down. I think the anti-magic ray on the boss beholders are a little iffy. Sometimes it was there, sometimes it wasn't. Either that or sometimes, while soloing this quest, I got really lucky as a caster?

Nthing the great atmosphere - was fun.
I liked seeing CR3 rats and CR8 bats here and there - makes a fun change rather than every vermin you see being super-powered.
I did spend an inordinate amount of time running around in this one. I like the non-linearity of it all, and having a circular map that you can approach from either direction is good (and allows a party to split up and do things twice as fast). Not knowing if the direction I was going in was a cul-de-sac or not was a little annoying.
I love the mind-flayers that spawn when you look in the mirror
It'd be nice if the non-plot newspapers were more noticeable - I like the story elements but am always worried that I've missed something.
Nice twist on the mage / guard optionals. I should have picked up on their stance etc., but didn't. Very amusing.
I found several points where the scenary was incomplete, and a few areas with invisible walls preventing progress - both annoying.
The traps were silly. So slow and easy to dodge, they might as well not be there. As you have other ways of by-passing them (go the long way around, DD, have a rogue, take the damage), they may as well have half a chance of actually hitting someone.

I really think the Beholder "implanted" on the WF's head was just ridiculous and half-a$$ed. We need more beholderkin creatures, not the same models painted over and over

    Examples:

And what about some actualy *new* Xoriat creatures, and not DDOed Flood (from Halo) eh?
