    Default Marilith Chain question

If a Neutral Good character wears this and suffers a negative level from the Taint of Evil effect, what are the actual penalties incurred?

From what I can see it's -5 hitpoints, -1 to hit and -1 to saves.

Are Stunning Blow DC's affected by this?

I also remember reading somewhere a while back about some other hidden negative effect that this armor confers on the wearer.

Does anyone remember what this is?

I think it's a penalty to a skill or a specific save, but I could be wrong about this.

Actually I was thinking of Jinx's Vexation with the hidden -3 to WILL save.

Still wondering if the Taint of Evil affects tactical DC's though..

As your OP said, -5 HP, -1 to-hit, -1 saves. No other negative penalties. All skills, ability scores, and Combat DCs are unaffected.

If this is the case, then it's hardly worth being True Neutral to wear it, the penalties are so minor.

I wore it on my Fighter's first life, while he was Chaotic Good, despite the penalties.

Now that I TRed, I'm True Neutral, but that's because between Min II and Lit II, I really don't have to worry about UMDing Pure Good.

I've seen several Paladins that'll walk around in it- so yes, the penalties aren't a big deal.

I have Pure Good on a bunch of weapons like vorpals and paralyzers for DR breaking purposes, not that I use them very often..

    I don't have UMD though.

If you're already 20, and aren't TRing, there's always the option of slotting "Good" onto the Scimmies from the event.

And on a Kensei, I hope you're not worried about Paralyzing. Your focus should instead be on OBLITERATING.

What has been said is correct. It is also worth noting that a neg level from Taint of Evil, and a neg level from the other alignment axis (Anarchic specifically) stack.

So wearing Marilith Chain and using the Brigand's Cultass will incur -2 saves, -2 to hit, -10hp.

Not a huge issue, especially for a Dwarf Kensai, but I cannot use both on my Pally in Epics without Evil Outsiders - the -2 to hit makes a difference.

I rather like the Marilith Chain look on female Humans though...

I'm Neutral Good and I'm not getting negative levels from the fully upgraded Epic Brigands Cutlass.

I don't have anything slotted in it yet, if that makes a difference, but I will be putting good in there eventually.

Neutral will not get a neg level from anarchic weapons or chaotic items. Lawful would for example.

    Slotting it makes no difference.
