Default Can we get spell component bags please?

Im sure someone brang this up before, but having got a spellcaster to 20, i find it really is annoying.

I like the idea of having 1 space to hold what would otherwise be tonnage of random materials such as collectable, ingredients, gems, arrows/bolts. Hell even necro 4 has the shield, sigil, tome, and tapestry bags. So what would be the problem with having an additional bag for something bulky that takes up a lot of space like spell components. Its just a pain to have to dedicate almost a whole tab of inventory slots to hold spell components.

Its not that I disagree. But from a 5 second search of this Sub-forum, I found:

    One

    Two

    Three

    Four

    Five

Threads on this prior, just by searching for topics with the word "Bag" in them.

Sad to say, I just don't think its going to happen.

There is interaction between quests and bags (think minos). Flipping that code around should be possible, but time/resource consuming. Wish i had a real programming class in college vs pascal lol.

Well, in pen-and-paper, all you needed was one spell component pouch and you are set for life.

Of course, this excludes spells with costly material components.

I don't even have a spell caster and I still think this idea is a winner!

    Again? Ok, quick summary:

    Almost everyone wants this.

The Devs wanted to do this.

It is LITERALLY impossible for now.

They have been working on it for 3-4 years.

Another one of these threads will appear in 2 days, if it even takes that long.

I can go one better, let have a container(maybe not a bag) but something that will hold scrolls when you pick them up and spell components, this way if you carry recon scrolls for those TOD runs and EPICs you dont have to take up all of your inventory space. I wouldnt even mind giving up a back pack to get this.
Devs I can compromise, I trade one backpack for an ingredient and scroll attache'. You can even sell them in the DDO store, you would make tons of money that would offset the cost of development time.

    Everyone is happy.

Well I haven't researched the other threads but this strikes me as false. Two quick ideas:

#1 eliminate spell components from spells (the costs are trivial and it is just an annoyance); or
#2 make each class have SINGLE spell component that works on all spells --> poor man's spell bag.
    #3 ??
    #4 profit

Programming issues is why it isn't in there. The game doesn't want to use the items from the bags. That is why you can't use cookies and cakes straight from their jars.

    Soooooo........

There are three sides of the backpack tab UI that are without tabs. One of these sides can have a component tab.

Create a tab just for spell components. There really are not too many spell components in the game but you could restrict that particular tab to items that are specifically used in spells. This tab should only appear when you have a blue bar and it should only accept components that your casting class/s can use. Basically, if you are a cleric/sorcerer, it will only accept those types of components and you won't be able to store bard materials in there.

I would also add that you create one just for Festivault goodies so that we can still have space for loot but have a tab to be able to use them from. It could be limited to a small amount instead of a full backpack tab space. Include the tab when you buy a cookie jar and have that tab appear when you have a cookie jar in your backpack. I'd buy a jar then. As it is, I see no real reason to have one since all my goodies are on a mule and I'd have to take out what I wanted to use from the jar anyway so they will still take up inventory space.

Since the problem is that the game doesn't want to use items from bags, since this is on the backpack tab, you are really creating a backpack tab just for these items and it should work.

    Default PnP spell prep

Not sure how this works in PnP but it would be better imo if prepared spells consumed their matterials at the time the were prepared rather than at the time they were cast. It does not make sense to me that I rested and prepared my spells but ten minutes later I am unprepared if I dont have a stack of materials. This would remove the requirment for materials all together. Since it would remove a money sink I doubt it would even be considered as a "fix"

Except for exceptional spells like Trap the Soul and Death Pact, the majority of spell components can hardly be considered a "money sink".

The concept of "prepaired" spells doesn't really fit DDO as is. DDO uses a spell point system, so there is no way the system has of knowing which spells you will spend those points on, so now way of knowing which components to use at the time you are prepairing those spells. Sure you have choosen Fireball at the rest shrine, but how many are you going to cast between rests? No way to know how mant bat guano to use at that point.
