What are some good spells?

Hey, I am trying a new type of character (I normally play barbarian) and wanted to do something I would enjoy playing, and could solo pretty well.
I am thinking about Wizard/Rogue (18/2), I just go to level 2 and am taking my first level of wizard, I cannot deside what spells to take.
I am still a noob by all means, and as such, am not sure what spells are really good, especially for solo leveling/questing.

If someone can point me to a list of spells to take, or can sujest some good ones, I would very much apreciate it.

Good spells to choose at the first level are: Hypnotism, Charm Monster, Shocking Grasp, Burning Hands/Acid Spray, Niacs, Masters Touch + Greataxe etc

But the best part of being a wizard is being able to experiment, so what you should be doing is going over to the scroll vendor and getting every level 1 spell into your spellbook and then experimenting from there.
