Default As a WF wiz/rog, should I dump UMD?

Do I need the UMD to be able to heal my party mates, and even ressurect them if the situation goes dire, or should I just save the skill points, dump-stat CHA and use Reconstruct naturaly?

You don't need to put points into CHA, but if you already have the Rogue splash, why not gt the skill?

It's valuable for more than just healing yourself.

It's one of the most powerful skills, if not the most.

If you are able to max it, you'd be a fool for not doing so.

I agree, with so many skill points, there is not much of an opportunity cost of maxing UMD. Your Concentration, Search and DD should be easy to max, leaving you with a few points to spread around on Spot, Open Lock and UMD. Of those three, Open lock on needs a few points from the first level and some gear, Spot is useful, but UMD is much more useful, for a number of things, including Cleric buff scrolls and heal

I would take UMD. It helps by-pass lots of restrictions as well as give you scroll and wand use that are not inherent to the wiz class. It will rarely be your job to heal a party, only time is if you have a WF tank. You may be asked to heal a little then.

What would you take instead? With your int, you should be able to maintain concentration, search, disable device and umd with no problem.

I was building it on the Char Gen thing, taking Spot, since I don't know most of the quests very well, but I'll try to read about them before going in and take UMD instead then

Just so you know (and since we havent actually seen the build) you can do just as good (and sometimes better than) trapsmithing as a pure rogue with only 2 lvls of rogue (at lvl 1 and lvl 10ish) no more than that is needed or recommended

I'm just feeling really insecure about it. So far the builds I got in the forums have a Barbarian or Monk splash on them, and I don't really wanna do a triclass.

The wiz/rog I intend to make will have the past life of a Mechanic, so having only 6/7 points to spend on skills is really gonna take me some time to adapt

I guess I just want some feedback on the whole wiz/rog thing
