    Default Using guild augment slots

If an item has a slot for a medium guild augmentation crystal, can you also use a tiny or a small crystal in the slot, or only a medium?

    Not sure...

However, if it is possible, I would be surprised if the required guild level changes to whatever is slotted rather than the medium. In other words, I suspect that you would end up with a MGL 45 item with a small or tiny augment crystal.

I don't think you can use another size. I had a shield and with a small and accidentally bought a tiny and it wouldn't take it in the stone of change.

From my experience you can only use the size of gem that the slot is.

Large slots only accept large augments.
Medium slots only accept medium augments.
    Etc.

Note that guild bonuses stack with every other type of bonus other than itself. As such multiple guild augments of the same type do not stack with each other, but the highest bonus will stack with other bonuses such as false life and toughness.
Thus, a medium fortification item, an armor with a medium (or large) guild slot with a fortification augment slotted combined with the stalwart trinket makes heavy fortification available very early in the game for fleshies.

Most augments are tied to certain item slots, fortification ones for example being limited to shields and armors. However having a guild augment even later in the game can be beneficial since the hitpoint augments can be used regardless of item slot. An extra stacking 5-20 hitpoints from a guild slot isn't bad.

Also the 'to hit' augment, if you duel wield gets applied to both weapons. It can become a large boon for early duel wielders to match the to hit of their two-handed brothers hehe.
