Tina Susco Adovasio.
Tina Adovasio, who was seeking a divorce from abusive ex-cop Eddy Coello, was found dead last night in Westchester.
A long-time personal friend, I grew up with Tina. We were childhood friends of the highest order. Nine years of my childhood we'd learn, run and play together. She was the sweetest soul. She packed more fun and kindness into a small petite but tomboyish gal then I'd ever seen. She was an athlete, a nerd, a jock, yet had no enemies. Not a one.
This past Friday, she went missing. All of us were praying for her safe return. Today, our worst fears were realized, they found her heavily beaten body on the side of the road.. choked to death by her ex husband, and disposed like a piece of trash in a patch of woods, about 100 yards off the Taconic Parkway in Yorktown Heights, NY. She leaves behind 4 young children. They had one child together, the other three was from a previous marriage.
This story was the lead story in all New York City newspapers the last few days. This is a heart wrenching story of domestic violence... and four young children left to grow up in a world without their mother.
I can't tell you the extreme sadness and anger I feel right at this moment. So, I write this tribute, and try to put on display to please, please, if you know someone like Tina, try to advise them to get help. Even though the system failed Tina, she found a way to safeguard her children. She is a hero, and one day her kids will understand that.
Rest in Peace, sweet Tina.
