    Default A Few Sorcerer Questions

So, I'm pretty new to arcanes, and currently have a Level 10 Human Sorcerer, and had a few questions about gear:

    1. Do timed effects such as Inferno stack with Efficacy?

    2. Do Enhancements, Potencty, <Element> Lore, and Clickies all stack?

Also, I wanted to get some opinions on my questions about a WF Sorcerer:

    1. For sorcerers, is WF self-healing more helpful near end-game than the +2 Drow Charisma or the Human Bonus Feat?

    2. While leveling, did you ever have trouble fitting in repair spells while keeping the other necessary spells?

Any other general Arcane advice you would like to share is also appreciated

I numbered your questions to make them easier to answer.

A1. Inferno does not stack with efficacy. There are several things that are important to keep in mind:
    A) Inferno and the like lasts 3 minutes, Efficacy lasts for 1 minute.
    B) Even though the descriptions for inferno and the like both say that the clicky adds 10% per tier to the damage of the spell, the inferno type clickies add 15% per tier. That means that at superior inferno clicky will add +75% to your fire damage, not +50% like efficacy would do.

A2. As a rule of thumb, feats, items, and enhancements stack with each other. Item bonuses stack with each other only if they are of different types. So enhancements will stack with bonuses to percentage from items. Potency and clickies do not stack with each other, they are both "item" bonuses. Lore items and potency/clicky items will stack, because they are different types of bonuses. Crit chance from items will stack with crit chance from enhancements because items stack with enhancements.

A3. You will not be able to find a conclusive answer to this question, the debate is as old as the hills. It's something that you have to decide for yourself.

A4. I don't have personal experience with this one, so I don't know

    1. no. timed element-specific bonuses *are* higher than stated, however. (specifically, multiply the % by 1.5, so for example a superior inferno gives +75% fire damage for 3 minutes. note that always-on element-specific items do not have this effect, nor do efficacy clickies)

    2. potency and clickies do not stack with each other, but will stack with both of the other two.

1 (the second 1). possibly. if you have 32 point builds, drow sucks. no really, it's terrible and you should refuse to acknowledge it's existence. if you don't have 32 point builds, drow is ok. not great, but ok. human is awesome, as it gives you a charisma bonus also (from an enhancement), although a smaller one than drow, and a bonus feat on a sorcerer is *awesome*. warforged is ok, but will give you bad DCs. that said, self-healing that begins *before* you can UMD stuff reliably is 10 different kinds of awesome.

overall, my preference is for human.

2 (the second 2). reconstruct happens to come in right at the same level as at least 3 other awesome spells. note that you will only get 3 spells of that level. that said, you probably should have reconstruct anyways. at other levels... well, level 2 is a tight fit, but you can just use wands really. until you get reconstruct, there isn't that much of a difference anyways (and in between wands of cure critical, you can use scrolls of reconstruct with a ~90% chance of success iirc).

    Q3 and Q4:
6 of 1 half dozen of the other, really. The high CHA you should have as a sorc should allow you to UMD heal scrolls so in essence, all sorcs are self healing. WF do it faster, for more HP and don't have to buy expensive scrolls though.

You did put as many points as possible into UMD, right?

And I always made sure that I had recon as soon as I could. Being alive means I contribute more than being dead.
