    Default Arcane Archer pre-reqs

Can someone explain to me why a Elven Ranger cannot fulfill the prereq by taking Energy of the Wild I but an Elven Bard can become an Arcane Archer by taking Energy of Music I. So a Ranger has to expend a feat slot to take a practically useless feat (Mental Toughness) a Bard would not have to expend for the same prestige line? Seems a little off.

    Rant done.

The pre-requisite from PnP D&D is a level of arcane magic . Probably there wasn't an easy way to code this in DDO. So they went with an enhancement from one of the arcane character classes or the feat which a magic user would take. It's not the best explanation, but you'll notice that all the energy pre-req's are from arcane caster levels not divine. It's not just segregating against rangers.

Think I stopped playing PnP in about 1990 or so. Bit hazy now. Not even sure ranger was a class then. Guess that makes sense though.

Rangers have been in D&D since the AD&D days (late `70s), IIRC. Arcane Archer is a prestige class from 3.x; in PnP you have to be an elf or HE who can cast arcane spells (it is in the name after all ) and has the pre-req feats. So I guess we're lucky insofar as rangers and other divine casters are able to be AAs in DDO.
