    Default Patch/Patcher issues 2011 03 14

Running the launcher, even as administrator, gets as far as the "Update Programs" check is the dialog box.

Clicking "OK" or allowing the 20 second countdown timer to run out brings up another dialog box (Please wait...)

After about 2 seconds, an error message pops up.

    Code:
Could not patch file "dndclient.exe", error 183: Cannot create a file when that file already exists.
Error 183 doesn't show up in the knowledge base, so this would sem either new or rare, if not both.

Clicking "OK" on the above error box restarts the launcher, which brings the whole thing around full circle.

Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know a viable fix? (submitted help ticket as well)

I didn't have this issue with the patch, but here's a possible solution...

Go to your DDO folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Turbine\DDO Unlimited\ for me) and RENAME (don't delete) the dndclient.exe file to something like dndclient.exe.old and see if you can run the update now...

The rename is just so that you have a backup in case this doesn't work. (also, I'm fairly sure the dndlauncher.exe doesn't rely on dndclient.exe to run, but if it does this definitely won't work...)

    Worth a shot, anyways.

Oh, and if it does work, you can safely delete the .old file once you've made sure DDO is working.

    Good luck!
On Orien: Ruprect the Monkey Boy lvl 16 Radiant Servant - Wilkes Booth lvl 20 Assassin - Schermo Savage lvl 14 Archmage - Monnik Savage - lvl 5 Monk (Life 2) - Saakaa Savage - lvl 6 Archmage

Works, thanks. Why didn't I think of that?
