it wasn't a lincoln logger, it was a quick number 1...not two minutes...
Angry tells for an LFM not being responded to so fast? That is a personal issue with someone who I would rather not play with anyway..lol

The other day, I saw a couple things as absurd as:

Rogues denied on the basis that the raid needs melee DPS.
People being denied for lack of boss beater when they have an eSOS in their MyDDO profile.

So I log on my bard and roll over there and join up, then tried a noob litmus test I read a bit ago on the forums. Try this sometime, you will be surprised how well it works when it does:

Pop a mass bulls scroll. The buff procs on a few people, some of whom are melee.
Pop a mass bears scroll. The buff procs on the same people plus a few more people.

Ask how many people are here for the first time, and if anyone has any questions....
    /crickets chirping.

    /bounce.

Group leader sends tell asking why and I respond with exactly what I did + the fact that I tried to get into the same group with another toon which is much further along in the gearing process than more than half the people here and was denied. No one in the group wants to learn, and most are putting up a front acting like they know because they dont want to be chewed out for not knowing by a spaz group leader who themselves lacks the same understanding, and is putting up the same front.

For every pug group leader like Shade, there are probably 10 like the one I described. This is why you likely get tells with people spazing out rather than people trying to be civil. They are fed up with having to justify themselves to people who clearly should have taken them over half the people they did take. They use MyDDO and have no understanding of any of the indicators they should be looking for.
Nice lol, I've been doing a similar thing for about 5 months now. What's even more funny is the amount of people who don't understand the what and why when you burn mass bulls/bears scrolls at the gate. I almost exclusively pug and I see numerous lfm's up where the leaders clearly demonstrate they don't understand the classes either.

While there is nothing wrong with that it brings up something to consider if you are leading a raid pug. The insane amount of typing required to respond to people that have joined and explain briefly why you declined others is useful. It's useful because, amongst other reasons, many of us who pug quite a bit get either the silent treatment or a diatribe of strangeness when trying to communicate with raid leaders. When you get an acceptance/declination with explanation you become the exception to your peers and people remember that.

The myddo thing just happened to me yesterday on my moderately geared FvS alt. I clicked to join an elite amrath pug and got no response. After about 5 minutes , (a full minute isthe longest I will wait before moving on), I get a tell saying something to the effect of needing to check out another guy before getting to me. I had already joined a TOD run. That lfm was still up for about 45 mins past finishing that run. Way to go I thought while having an lol about it.

Perhaps I am strict. But thats how it goes when you pug often and want to maintain a good success rate.

For people who click my lfms without sending a tell and blantantly don't meet the class requirements.. I try to respond with a simple "Hi you don't match the lfm requirements"

But sometimes if im very busy say running a raid with 10+ requests in a short time - I'll just completely ignore the request indefinetely. You don't match the requirements, you should be the one to send the tell, otherwise your wasting time and should not expect a response.

I will always answer all tells and respond to all requests that match the requirements. Sometimes on popular raids I may be slow to respond, but I get to them all eventually.

Sometimes the ones that don't match up at all and never send tells... Just don't have time for.

What odd is that many LFM's are posted by people who really don't understand many facets of the game. They believe that certain things are true...
    • Rogues don't do substantial DPS....we all know that that Sneak Attack Damage and Crippling Strike are what makes all DPS that much better

    • Bards don't do enough DPS....but a Warchanter Bard makes everything...EVERYTHING easier

    • KotC Paladins bring HUGE DPS to most end game quests...ie Amarth

    • Not every ranger is a ranged ranger.....also a TWF Tempest ranger with Favoured Enemy will usually do a metric s-ton of damage

I'm sure many can list many more, but there are those who post without understanding...my biggest pet peeve is the LFM's for Amrath that say "picky" and then unsuccessfully try to run things on Elite or Epic.

Play a FvS/Cleric and then decide how you want a group to look.

    Just my two cents.
Bellytwo - Ranger Jojo - Rogue Tummy Ranger/Fighter
    Tickles - Wizard Belly - Ranger/Fighter Cherry - Bard
Bellybelly- Barbarian Yosh- Cleric Tummmy - Mutt
Bellly - Mutt Ranger Supertummy - Pally Superbelly - FVS
    TA - Khyber

I don't see often Axer's LFM. When i recal I can only tell I saw his CC runs -> "Axer and the casters".

Probably the most problem I see with LFMs that when I meet requirements, and don't get accepted (and even declined).
Second problem with LFMs is simple lack of PuGs for epics (or even Amarath or other raids than Ravers Pike or Shroud) on Khyber last time (yesterday I was sitting about hour and no eChrono, no Sands, not even Sentinels).
What happened with some people that not long time ago put LFM for eChrono, on normal time when even i could do it...

Interesting... I take the first 5 that want to come along, and my success rate is very high... Did you use to fail quests when you just took anyone?

Or are you only talking about end-game or epic raids here?

Nah, it's not silly to infer... Most of the time the people who are looking for only a certain class suck.... It's a very high probability that they are not very good at this game.

But don't worry, I don't bother sending tells about it...

Your LFM, your rules, but when your rules are so absurd, to the point that someone who doesn't know you would logically think it's more likely you simply made a mistake on the "classes wanted" settings...

    Can you really blame them?

    Arrow put up clear LFMs

One thing leaders can do to help out is to make sure their LFM reflects what they're looking for. So many times I see an LFM with no quest selected, no clarifying text, and every class listed. I'll click on it, and either get no response or get a tell saying, "Sorry, need healer (or caster or whatever I'm not)".

I do this all the time.

once I found a capped TR monk without bull's or bears.

My last shroud went pretty smoothly (roughly as smoothly as any other Orien shroud pug). While the party was forming, I checked myddo. The Horror. We had ranged rangers (plural), a sword and boarder, more melee rangers, and level 16s. In actual play we did have two DCs (one was a first timer with a 16) and waiting for them killed our time (waiting also brought a rainbow which we handled without issue).

I've noticed that keeping the party together and playing your role goes much farther than getting that last piece of twink gear. If you are at the edge of failure, then go get the last bit of epic gear. Just don't blame the failure on the newb that stayed in position during the failure when your ubertoon tried to do it all himself.

    Absolutely.
Each Party's Leader has the right to set how many melee Heroes in it. But at least it's weird to restrict the Party to one and only one melee for any Adventure.

Again it's Turbine fault for making quests with 99.9% success rate. Make quests where at some given random moments heavy ranged damage (1200) is shared between all the melees!

    Red face

The other day, while playing my healer, I tried to join a group doing stk, asking for only heals. I was declined then got a message saying he/she had forgotten to update the lfm. So I replied no prob and moved on. And I thought it was very nice of the person to leave me the message.

On the other hand, a couple weeks back with my other healer (at level 6), I joined a group and was accepted. And on my way to the quest a second healer joined and I was kicked. I thought ? and looked up the lfm and saw that the new healer was level 7. The group then filled. So feeling that the group leader was rude, I squelched him and then moved on.

The OP's message is sound but pointless since 99 percent of new peeps don't read the forums. So your yelling into the wind.

Which is why there should be a 2 minute timer on acceptance request in a group. If you wish to leave me hanging so you might find a better player or class, you'd better do it fast.
