Yes and no.
Dark side in general no. Touch of Death (the good stuff) is fist only for example.
Light side in general yes. Those light side buffs, heals work with LS.

iirc, touch of death and quivering palm are the only strikes that require fist attacks only.
all other strikes should work regardless of weapon.

I believe Stunning Fist also requires unarmed.

the elemental damage require it as well (fires of purity, etc.)
