    Default 8.9 Earthquake in Japan

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110311/...pan_earthquake

I know that DDO has players all over the world. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who has been effected by the earthquake and the tsunami that followed.
Your complaint has been lodged, duly noted, and swiftly rejected.

No reports of a large pre-historic beast rising out of Tokyo Bay shooting energy beams out of it's mouth yet....keep fingers crossed.

Myself, wife, in-laws and friends all survived unscathed. Interesting experience being in a train that feels like it is going to shake off the rails...

I am just glad that I was not near the coast in the Tohoku area. My prayers go out to those that were.

Reports are two nuclear plants are in a state of emergency. Residents have been evacuated from around the Fukushima Nuclear Plant as the cooling system has thus far failed.

This quake has also spawned tsunamis and this:

Also, keep an eye on Micronesia. It will be very bad if the tsunami hits there.

    Be safe everyone.

Yeah its terrible....good luck to everyone over there.

Last death toll I saw was about 50....but that's not even going to be close to the real number.....If it doesn't end up in the 4 figures I will be very suprised.

Just imagine if it wasn't Japan...it would be a hundred times worse.

As far as I know death toll is going to jump up from 50 to at least 250-350, and even worse, more.
TV news reported that JSDF found 200-300 bodies on shore of Miyagi prefecture. Its assumed that they did not make their evacuation from Tsunami wave.
Also at least several hundreds of people gone missing... I fear in next 2-3 days, we will be start to seeing how many people lost in this disaster.

I just hope my family and friends are safe.
Haven't contacted with them for 9 hours by now... and they are living on Sendai city, one of the city suffering devastating damage from this quake.
I'm sure I cannot sleep on tonight, not until I confirm their safety.

    I hope they're OK.

Luckily, most of my family and friends are in Kansai or Kanto, and have reported in that they're OK. Haven't heard from my friends right on the coast in Chiba-ken, though. I THINK they should be ok, but there is basically no elevation in the city.

Apparently (coming thru the grape-vine from various almost-ex family members) Hawaii getting pummeled a bit at the current moment, and Whidbey Island, off coast of Washington, due to get some Tsu-attention in 1-2 hours.

    Thank you for kind word.
I was able to make contact with them right after first quake occur, I do really hope they are still in one piece.

Since police and fire fighters controlling bandwidth for phone usage, or at least so I heard,
it is very difficult for us to contact with anyone in the Tohoku area via phone call.
Though, media telling us most of these damaged city doesn't have electric power supply and such, lifelines are out of service.
Also there is city on fire, Tsunami hit quite deep into the ground like 10km from shore.
It's so terrifying to see how situation is bad yet cannot do anything but pray.

I just hope no more folks gets hurt and lost.

Prayers from my family going out to the two of you and everyone else caught up in this horrific disaster... We're glued to BBC and CNN at the moment, staring in shock. I really hope as many people as possible get through it okay. What a dumb thing to say, but...yeah. Here's hoping that you hear from your friends and family as soon as possible and that everyone is alright.

I don't see the humour in this considering the magnitude of the event.

Yes one of my best friends lives in Hawaii. That makes it very personal. And while I live on the other side of the world it is eerie to know for hours and hours before the actually hit what might happen. So far all looks ok, but the images from Japan... the scale and magnitude of the devastation.. no words

My husband and friends are all accounted for now in central Tokyo. Only minor damage to the house, a lot of aftershocks (I turned the video off on Skype after a bit, I couldn't watch) and one mighty scared kitty cat.

Thinking of those waiting for news.
