Default when exactly can we have a solution for guilds whose leader has disappeared?

Could you imagine how urgent that such guilds need their new leaders? Especially for guilds with lots of officers disappeared for months, too.

Guild members feel bewildered and confused. Guild members keep leaving. Guild renown drops.

    We need a hotfix asap.

Well, there was someting done about it, but as too many forumites of old and good-running guild protested against a possibility where they might get a new leader if he were absent for some weeks/months, they took it back as soon as possible.

There was some discussion, who "owns" a guild afterwards.

Why is this even a problem? This sort of thing happens frequently accross all MMO game types no matter what the game is (i.e. DDO, UO, AC, WoW, Star Trek, etc...)

If the guild becomes stagnant or defunct then leave it and join another as there are way to many options out there. I have done this several times myself just within the 5 years I have played DDO and also when I was playing UO, Asherons Call and WoW. It has never been a concern to me.

This in my opinion is something that is a non-issue that several players are trying to make into an issue.

If you don't like your guild try applying to
Legends on Khyber. We will consider all applications.

    @shores11 -

that's all well and good while there hasn't been any guild achievements with pretty significant rewards.

but i don't think one can say "just move on".

say all the remaining members form a new guild, they're going to have to get all the favour from scratch...

or you join a guild of a lower level and having to earn favour again and possibly not enjoying the same rank as before.

i don't think a mechanism for members to gain control of a guild in the leaders absence is unreasonable, given the investment made my the members.

The hangup is the investment in AD's. Granted, anyone in the guild could have contributed AD's to the guild ship and other things. The problem is, how can you transfer ownership of something a person might (might) have spent real money on to a person not of their choosing?

Personally, I still like my abandoned car/Salvage Title analogy, but it dosent seem popular.

I think the solution is to make the newly suggested process take much longer (several months instead of a few months), since with a salvage title you have to take the time to prove the owner dosent want or isnt still looking for that car (cars do get stolen and moved). In order to prevent the leader from loosing the guild unfairly (I am in the Army, I know about deployments) the best idea is to transfer leadership to a trusted officer, and NOT rely on the current or proposed system at all.
The problem is never how to get new, innovative thoughts into your mind, but how to get old ones out. Every mind is a building filled with archaic furniture. Clean out a corner of your mind and creativity will instantly fill it.

I agree something needs to be done about it but I dont think the owner should be the first noob to push the "mine" button X number of days after officers dont log in. They should have included the officers in on that but not the regular membership.

Some players also like the sense of nostalgia, with the guild, and want to keep it going.

For example, The Dragon Order of Arcanix just celebrated their 5 year anniversary March 1st, and we have switched guild leaders more than a few times:

    1) Riven
    2) Yendreath
    3) Shaamis
    4) Radyl
    5) Shaamis
    6) Ramalam
    7) Haizi
    8) Shaamis

Each time was in a mature, and guild-concentrated reason for the change.

I guess not every player and not every guild leader looks at the concerns of their members and their guilds "health" the same way.
