Leveling question

I think that I know the answer already but I just want some other input. I am currently at 16th level, but have received enough xp to go to 17th. A guild member that I try to hang around with this toon would be power leveled in adventures if I were to level up. My question is not leveling going mess anything up when I do get to where I could level him? Also step further let's say I end up at 18th level worth of xp and still have not leveled am I still ok when I do level him? Thanks in advance.

Holding off on taking level 17 will not cause you any problems, although you won't get any enhancement points from the ranks in level 17 until you take the level.

You will stop gaining experience when you have 1 experience point less than the minimum for level 18, however, so you will need to take 17 at some point before then.

if you are lvl16 now you can gain xp up to 1pt short of lvl18. After that you will no longer gain xp until you lvl to 17.
