Maximum Guild Size: Accounts or Characters?

I've searched high an low in the forums and knowledgebase and cannot find a definitive answer.

Could a Dev or CS rep tell me:

1) What is the maximum size for a guild?

2) Is this characters? Or accounts?

Max is 1000 characters.

You can have up to 1000 accounts if they each only have one character.

Yeah, I'd seen that in threads Lithic but I haven't seen anything definitive from Turbine.

We are currently at a bit under 600 in our main guild with just over 100 in our "Reserves" guild. With the renown loss due to transferring characters from one to the other, I just wanted to get a definitive response from Turbine to confirm these numbers. It would be much better for us if we could just keep everyone in the "main" guild and save the reserves for our RP groups.

Is this still the case? Or was this guild limitation for the number of accounts removed along with the guild renown decay system? If the limitation is in place, my guild is very close to the ceiling at the moment.

Ok we hit max the other day. 1st time ever. Not even remotely a goal for us, but I am too looking for modern data relating to guild size.

It appears there is just a maximum character limit (and no account limit), but I can't be certain without data to back it up.

Oh yes, and.......!
