    Default Does invisibilty prevent healing?

I have a couple of questions about healing:

    1. I know I can’t heal thru walls and I cant heal wizards in undead form, but is there any other thing preventing a target from getting healed? Was healing a shroud yesterday and at some point my heals just didn't work. I wasn’t lagging as far as I can tell. Someone said it was the invis gard from the marbar cloak. Is that possible?

    2. If the target I have centered for the mass cures/heals died I am always selecting a new one. Is that necessary? Will the heals still work with a dead target? And can the ghost drag the heals away when moving out of combat?

    3. How many major pots are your limit for a pug shroud on norm?

    1. No. Unless they are out of range/you failed a concentration check.

    2. Select a live target for centering heals.

    3. Zero.

    1. you can always carry harm if you know there will be a palemaster that might need help (like in tod pt.2 stair kiting). invisibility should not prevent healing. but afair a upcoming disconnect can still prevent mass-spells where the one that is disconnecting is in the range of the spell

    2. yes its needed unless you are standing real close anyway. if your target dies all further masscures/heals have you as target.

    3. 0. however i would use the bauble.

I heard this for the first time ever yesterday in an eDQ2. The leader was finatic about it, to put it lightly, spamming party in caps for minutes on end to take off cloaks, it lags, etc. I've never heard such a thing, nor witnessed it. What I have witnessed (in Shroud specifically, but other places as well) is someone else or the server will hiccup, no heals will go off, no damage will go through, etc, and once things catch up, it all goes through at once, generally insta killing some people if not causing a wipe. Had it just the other day in epic Into The Deeps actually, had maybe a 2 sec spike of lag where you could see the healer casting, but nothing was happening. Next thing you know, all the melee on the Hezrou are dead. XD Good thing the caster was quick witted enough to grab stones and ddoor. Its a feature of DDO, you'll come to appreciate it. :P

    1) Nope a target being invisible shouldnt stop it - lag can have an impact, and even with good latency its possible you had a little signal loss which can sometimes stop your commands being registered. Warforged with the improved fortification feat are immune to healing (though if anyone managed to get to Shroud level with that feat i'd be very surprised), and IIRC the bladesworn transformation makes them immune to healing too (tho again, most people would never use it in a boss-fighting situation). Failing concentration checks can do it too, though I have quicken spell as an always-on out of habit so that'll negate that possibility.

    2) You'll need to target someone alive... my personal preference is to be in the middle making a bit of dps contribution & just cast - they'll always be centered on myself & catch everyone nearby.

    3) In a normal difficulty shroud.. usually just my bauble. If you find yourself running out of SP as a healer in that its either a problem with a badly coordinated group (espeically in part 2), in parts 4 & 5 it might mean either that the 2nd healer isnt doing anything (or has DC'ed) or that you're overhealing, or that you have really low SP - as a FvS shouldnt be an issue, as a cleric it might be but try healing from the middle, you can have aura active for a little extra effect then mix in bursts between spells.
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was, now what's it is weird and scary to me.

Actually, right after the event ended, and everyone and their brother had their stupid cloaks on, and were fighting a mob that would proc them constantly (such as Lailat's 6 hits in rapid succession), and 5~6 would proc in less than a 0.5 second span... well, I can't say for sure it was the cloaks, but something funky was happening, and there were lots of bats flying around when it happened.

to 1. I carry harm and I use quicken when I have trouble with concentration checks. What I didn't know is the disconnect thing. So it's not enough that I havn't the disconnecting selcted, he/she should be out of range. Good to know.

to 2. So I did everything right so far, cause I had no heals on me

to 3. Well, that was yesterday the limit for the other cleric too. I drunk 2 majors, but that didnt prevent the wipe in the end. Whould it be an option to stand close to combat as the second healer while fighting harry? With enough hitpoints and quicken I should be able to cast heals when needed, benefit from the heals of the other cleric (standing in the pool) and can use my ton of aura and blast healing.

See, thats why I bring my friends along. Since a lot of them are above the Server's lag. Though, you do realize with as little HP has Hezrou had left he could have solo'd that last part, but, oh well. He kept the rest of the melee's and one ranged happy. In all seriousness, I doubt it'd happen, however I'm now going to drag Malithar off to test it. If you don't hear anything back, it's not an issue.

if you have the hp to survive a delayed blast fireball or meteor swarm if you already took a slight beating (e.g. 370+ hp) then you can stay near the melees. of note here is that your aura most likely won't hit everyone standing around harry until you are directly standing at harry (which you should not). so best to park yourself out of melee harms way and position yourself that the squishies get your aura. think of the blades...

When you are stuck or about to dc your client displays the casting animation but the spell never occurs.

The blades can also sneak up if things get laggy, and then you won't see the dice for concentration either.

Thanks again. So 400 IS the magic number for an non melee in shroud. Or at least the comfortable number...
Standing on Harry - I like that idea

I'll chug a pot if I run out of SP because of something stupid that I did.

I think that a Cleric or FvS should be willing to chug a pot or two on their first and second run through ANY raid just because they'll end up overhealing until they get used to the rhythm.

I usually end most Shroud pugs with at least 1/3 of my blue bar intact at the end of both round 4 and round 5. I have a FvS with 2500 SP.
