Default Long time player looking for guild

    Greetings,
I've been playing DDO since late 2008. I am a very experienced player with 4 characters capped and am actively working on a TR (currently level 16, 2nd life). These toons are all on Thelanis, though I do have additional characters on Ghallandra. I am 16 years old but please don't let that worry you -- I am mature, independent and profanity in chat isn't an issue. I listen well, give as good as I get and most people wouldn't guess I was younger unless I said something up front.

I was originally in Warriors of Greystone, but feel my age at the time made it difficult to mesh with some of the adults in guild. After that, I was in Stormlords for nearly year when Roc, Cersive and Shehulk were still there. Unfortunately, as the ranks swelled, one of the officers Amie claimed I was just too good of a "zerger" and we decided to part ways. I decided to try a younger guild led by Hannibel - unfortunately it didn't prove to be an environment that suited my playstyle or skill. Finally, I was in Impulse only to discover it had disbanded after I took a week break.

I primarily like to raid and improve my characters, so I am interested in a like-minded guild with more restrictive recruiting policies. If you might be a good fit and willing to give me a shot, send me a PM here or a tell to any of my characters below!

I wish you luck on your quest for a guild that meets your needs.

While uninvited, I'll give a little background and advice that may help you find and maintain such a relationship.

My own guild is an end-game heavy raiding guild. We have an 18 year old age limit for membership. I think our policy is similar to many others--either formally or informally.

In one sense, this age limit seems unfair and it probably is. But it is practical and makes guild management a lot easier. The primary reason for this age limit is maturity. And by maturity I don't mean ability to handle adult language and topics--instead I mean ability to handle adult conflict and relationships with an ability to avoid or minimize drama.

Our experience, and I believe the experience of many other guilds, is that a too high percentage of younger players end up creating or getting caught up in drama: which is the guild-harming poison we all try to avoid as much as possible. Unquestionably, there are those over 18 that create the same issues. But the odds are higher for the younger crowd. Likewise, there certainly are younger players that will not create or get caught up in such drama. But the numbers are high enough--its not worth the extra screening and energy required to manage this.

    That's the history.

    Now for the uninvited advice.

Your post is loaded with indicators that you get caught up in the type of drama that many end game guilds try to avoid. Two bits of advice arise from this.

First, in selling yourself to end-game guilds, you might want to focus on what you can contribute to the guild and avoid discussing past drama incidents (whether they are caused by others or not).

Second, and much more importantly, analyze those past frictions that have come up and figure out ways that you might have avoided that drama--and apply those going forward. A big part of adult maturity when it come to conflict management (and believe me, many adults don't do this well either) is to assess your emotions on the fly and when you feel yourself getting heated up, to default to a safe position rather than a conflict-based one. A good rule of thumb as you practice these skills is to default to being silent, passive, or apologetic--even if you are right and even if its not your fault. Its often times better to back out of a situation quietly and cause a minor bit of drama then it is to dive into conflict and create a lot of drama. With time and experience, you may find yourself able to diffuse these situations with humor and/or calm reasoned discussion.

This is such a great game and it has so much to offer everyone--but especially younger players. I'm very jealous that it was not around when I was your age. I want you to get the most out of this game--and a big part of the best of this game is the community and the team play. I encourage you to expand your game skills to include not just game knowledge and twitch skills, but adult social skills and adult teamwork. Its a challenge--but the payoff is well worth it.

I then joined a teenage guild lead by hannabel because i was having trouble finding a guild that accepted people under the age of 18, after a monster wreck of a shroud were an idiot kid in the guild (who was one of the two healers in the group) decided to not heal and drag everyone that was dead to the complete opposite corner of the room in part 5 so i left then. I took a break from the server and went over to ghallanda. About three months ago I came back to this server and joined impulse lead by ironmagic, i took a week break and came back to find the guild disbanned and am currently looking for a guild that is high level and raids often. I do NOT want an invite to monty pythons or two dwarfs...
This entire post is probably the wrong way to do a public LFG (including the last line, but I laughed). I will re-write it for you, like it is a resume.
