Arcane Scrolls which are NOT available for purchase from NPC's

Since this is a common question asked by new Wizards, I compiled this list to help out, and will try to keep it updated, mostly for easy viewing from the in-game web-browser.

This is a list of arcane spells which will have to be learned from a Wizard trainer, found on scrolls in loot, or purchased from another player. You will not be able to purchase these scrolls from an NPC for scribing into your spellbook.

In addition, the following two scrolls are available at the NPC merchant in The Portable Hole, however, you won't be able to go there and buy them until you reach level 9, and can Teleport to that location.*

*Note: You can always buy a scroll of Teleport before you reach level 9, and attempt to use it to get to The Portable Hole, though it might misfire and require use of more than one scroll. In addition, you could ask a friendly Wizard or Sorcerer for a Greater Teleport, and hitch a ride. (Thanks shagath & Rusty_Can!)

Beware the auction house prices for scrolls. Patiently looting chests is usually sufficient to supply your needs.

Also keep in mind that if you're only racing to 20 in order to True Reincarnate for the first time, there's more than just a few scrolls you could skip altogether. I wouldn't worry about having a complete spellbook until I know that a character is going to remain a Wizard.

Most veteran players know which are loot-only, and if you ask around your guild, someone might have a key scroll being stored somewhere.

If you are sure to ALWAYS & ONLY choose spells from this list when you are at your trainer, you can get almost all the "essential" spells for free.

A discussion regarding which spells are "essential" sounds like a good idea for a new topic.

I'm hoping people will be able to use this thread as a reference for tracking which spells are seen dropping in particular dungeons/areas. If anyone wants to note where they've seen a scroll dropping as loot, I'll do my best to update the OP accordingly.

Saw two of the new scrolls drop while doing the new Harbinger of Madness quests: Eladar's Electric Surge, and Niac's Biting Cold.

Unfortunately, the last two days have been a frenzy of crafting and questing, and I can't recall exactly which quests the scrolls dropped in; but I do know it was in one of those in that story-arc, since those are the only quests I've run in the last two days.

Also confirmed, I saw Scorch drop in Irestone Elite today, was there relieving some hobgoblins of my much-needed crafting supplies.

Scorch dropped today in one of the end chests in Tomb of the Immortal Heart, Elite.

Found Scorch again in the Necropolis, Tomb of the Sanguine Heart, Elite, in one of Henenu's treasure chests.

Also found Gust of Wind in one of the randomly placed chests in the Bloody Crypt.

Saw Sonic Blast and Acid Spray drop several times today while running the story-arc quests for The Sharn Syndicate.

Setting was Elite, without a loot gem running.
