Little benefit vs. lots of pain.

If Turbine really wanted to simplify the front page they would have been better off with high level title buttons that break out to more detail. Much cleaner, easier to navigate and with proper titles would actually add scads of useability.

Forcing us to use advanced search to get detailed class info is a supreme shard of pain in the keister.
this is all about page views, and banner adds. The marketing people realized that they could get more hits on the consolidated pages than the separate ones. If you thought Turbine really cares, think again. Instead of real information they offer a stupid monster maddness game. This will also make it much more difficult for real feedback from the players to get to the devs. Pathetic. T

I have his thread subscribed... would be nice if all the information were to get tagged eventually but of course some of the older threads missed and aged off. I suppose replaced eventually.

One of the reasons Turbine stated for the merge was traffic... one of the things they did not consider was that traffic would be less in some specific topic rather than some general topic.

i.e. a product page gets less traffic than the company home page... likewise the "Emma's german chocolate cake recipe" will receive less traffic than a general page on baking. That is a given... even to those looking for a chocolate cake recipe they may browse the general baking page... a hit - may be mundane or informational to them but chances are as with most web surfing - sometimes viewed "annoying" - like some televsion ads and sometimes people will tollerate just so much before they become disinterested in the show and switch the channel.

It does not take a statistician to figure out that the more specific and fine tuned you become the less “views” such page will be visited.

So... what's the point? Less traffic does not mean the information less relevant, obviously class “wizard” is important to those who play “wizards.” Does it mean that because “wizard” forum is getting less hits than “sorcerer plus wizard” combined forum that people are playing less “wizards” and that the information on “wizards” less important? Of course not.

Will combining all sorcerers and wizards into one forum yield more traffic? Not really in the sense of those sorcerers and wizards gaining knowledge and answers to their question but maybe increase by the amount of time it takes for them to sift through and weed out and down to the specific answers they were seeking on Pale Master.

no Em, the new forums are awesome. I was wrong, so wrong. I must have missed a dose of meds or something, clearly everyone sees how good the change is, and how wrong I was, and now I see it clearly too.... well honestly, I'll say anything at this point... fear is power!!!! T

Well I think it is pretty clear now that the statement by Cordovan on the behalf of Turbine, "Try it out and see how you like it, nothing is permanent", really means "Here's the new forums, we don't really care if you like it or not". T

If it is really important I just post it in the Khyber Forums. That is where all the cool kids are anyway. I generally get a more reliable answer too!

Have to agree with OP... The new format is shall I dare say, tantamount to "Forum Lag", cause it takes far to long to navigate the over condensed threads.

yeah, I had that feeling when they first posted it, that was how they're going to be.
The only improvement gained from the restructuring, was making it easier for the moderators, less clicking for them.
Other then that, this seems to enforce using the Search feature , no more reading the random Class builds that others are creating.
I imagine it still looks like a cluttered mess, I haven't been back since day 4, it was a mess then didn't see it getting any better

Even if I don't like to point my finger at the devs, i must say this change to the forums is a total failure for it makes it harder to use the foruns.
I just don't belive they made it out of care or in spite of the players...just went sour...sure happens in the best familys at times

You can be certain the devs had nothing to do with this change.

You have successfully canceled your Dungeons and Dragons Online™ subscription. We are sad to see you go, but you may resume it at any time. We hope to see you back soon!

Help us improve by filling out this Exit Survey.
And yes, I did full out the Survey listing the sole reason as leaving, being the Class forum changes.

Have fun guys, im not staying and playing a game where the devs make boneheaded decisions, too many games do it right to stay with a company that's doing it wrong.

If you truly want to be heard, i suggest doing the same.

Oh no of course not. Just like I'm sure the reason that they are no longer responding to any of our concerns about the restructuring is that they were ordered not to.

I gave up trying to find the info i want on a class build after a few tries. I refuse to go into the cluster funk they call class forums. A lot of accumulated knowledge of the classes have been lost to me because i wont bother with searches that turn up everything i dont want to read about.

Too bad Turbine takes it to heart when people get upset with how poor this whole thing was thought out. After the moderator jumping in shaking his/her finger it just makes me glad im taking a break from this game for awhile. Kinda see where Turbine's head is. Glad i cancelled my sub for the time being.

I must say, I have given it time and I still do not like it. Can we have them changed back now?

Tolero did say give it time. I did. Now I have found I rarely visit the section anymore, whereas before it was a daily stop.

I have to agree. Did they even flag every thread with what specific forum it belonged to before consolidating them? What about all the new threads created since, where would those go and who would move them there?

Like it or not things are not going to change back to the way they were.

It's the "lol look at all the grinding in game we make them do....... Now lets incorporate that on the forums..... Better yet, lets make them reflag for the forum every time they want to post. "

Yes but we can still complain bitterly about it for a long time to come! I can tell you as long as those forums remain the way they are, I will. T
