    Default Stuck on loading screen

Yet another of these stuck on loading screen thread.

I died somewhere with a character... recalled... and got a stuck on loading screen event.

Ok, no problem, kill DDO, restart client, and that it.

Except that now I can't even enter the game.

I can connect without any problem, select the world I want to play on.
I reach the character selection screen, select a character.
Then I get stuck at loading screen and after a few minutes I get the message "The connection to the server has been lost" and the game shuts down.

Special for Smitey : no point in pointing me towards Tech Self Help I already checked and there's nothing wrong with my Internet explorer internet options ( as I'm using it to post ) try to find something else.

It happens _also_ on another computer ( where I have the game installed ) with another account.
It still happens after a reboot of the PC.

    Further testing....

I can connect to Lamannia and actually load a character...

Oh, in case somebody at Turbine wants it to investigate, I have a nice Wireshark capture of the problem session...

You select the same character, or a different one? Or does it not matter.
The problem is never how to get new, innovative thoughts into your mind, but how to get old ones out. Every mind is a building filled with archaic furniture. Clean out a corner of your mind and creativity will instantly fill it.

    Still further testing :
I usually connect to Ghallanda. This is where I can't connect after selecting one of my character there.

I just created a character on Thelanis... and entered...
    Going to check another server...

    Edit : more testing

Connecting on Ghallanda with the second Account and creating a character works...
That is until I tried to enter the Leaky Dinghy....

Opened a ticket, it's so weird and it came so suddenly that there has to be something wrong somewhere.

Still further experimentation while waiting to see what Turbine comes up with...

Tried to log with the character I created earlier in Thelanis...
That character was still on the beach... and It's not loading either.

While I can log, and play on Lamania... without any problem ( including entering and leaving inns ).

Isnt there a repair option in the client? Something that resets the video settings and such. Lam is a different client, so it might be your main client with something bad in it. (I dont know if that is covered by what you read before).

    That's what I'm considering...
Except that it's happening on two different clients on two different computers are the same time...

I did make a copy of my DDO install directory and I'm doing a repair right now.

While the support only asked for a dxdiag...

Ok, nothing better than to let a night go over a problem...

what I did this morning :
    - Rebooted the DSL router.
    - started the PC
    - changed the name of the directory of the 'repaired game' to New Eberron Unlimited
    - changed the name of the directory of the copy of the 'broken game' to Eberron Unlimited
( the above because there's 4500 files to download and I'm too lazy to wait )
    - started the game, and logged with the character it all started with...

And lo behold... loading went well...
I could even move the character from his raise location ( Reaver's Refuge ) to the Guild Ship without any problem.

So it seems that it was my DSL router or something in the PC hardware that got reset when I switched them off.

I'll experiment further tonight when I'm back from work...

    Thumbs up Thank You!

It worked! This should be put in on the official steps to try to fix the problem.

It was a saving issue, follow the steps to change the directory and it will fix it.
