Ghosts of Perdition is one of the hardest quest if you don't know what you got.

Until you reach the Doomsphere it is really simple, then things can get messy.

The Doomsphere is a lawful good ghostly beholder. It is immune to almost everything except physical, acid and force, undead bane and chaotic.

To kill the Doomsphere you need Ghosttouch (either weapon or on items like spectral gloves).

To survive the fight you need greater cold resistance item (lightning resi is also nice, since the skeleton mages do cast a few of them too), deathblock, either some way to get rid of Negative level (Greater Restoration, though it can fail) or better radiant servant burst or/and a way not to get negative level (beholder optic nerves, silver flame trinket (T2 or T3), Warforged, Pale Master (in form)).

With the above items just gang up on the Doomsphere and kill it as fast as possible, ignore the mobs.

Sometimes the ice reforms, sometimes it doesn't. I don't know which is the expected behavior. I don't think a dev has ever stated which the expected behavior is. I've solo'ed it numerous times on all difficulties, and most of the time I could invite people in without any trouble after the fight was over but before completion. Only twice (once on elite, once on normal) did I have the ice reform. Me recalling out and re-entering broke the ice, but that may not be a guaranteed solution, and that's not an effective solution if you're doing it for experience.

There is also a glitch since update 8.1, now he does take fire damage. The Fire elemental summon IX is now useful as well as the Eldadrin Ghaele, or a Dense Earth Elemental.

As others said, he's Lawful Good. Have ghost touch or an ethereal item like Spectral Gloves, Ethereal Bracers, or a Mabar Cloak of Night. For his incarnation in Litany, Kundarak Delving Boots or Spiked Boots are VERY useful. A fully upgraded Silver Flame Talisman will make the fight far easier.

I am not sure either which is the intended behavior, but in nine out of ten cases the ice does /not/ reform. It happens every now and then that it does.

Sometimes ddooring back and dropping down again fixes it. I seen recalling out and re-entering make the ice disappear again.

As for the beholder, you have a hard time get a warforged - any class really. Most groups have a hard time because of the level drain effect combined with the Doomsphere dispelling all buffs and protections. Warforged are naturally immune against it so they have a far easier time going toe to toe with the thing (or kiting it through bbs respectively using disintegrate, force and acid based attacks if caster).
    Characters on Sarlona: Ungnad (Morninglord, Wizard 17 / Favored Soul 2 / Fighter 1) -- Baerktghar (Dwarf, Paladin 18 / Fighter 2) -- Simulacruhm (Bladeforged, Artificer 16 / Paladin 3 / Wizard 1)

No matter what side of the argument you are on, you always find people on your side that you wish were on the other.
