    Cool

    Did you try a "clean" boot with your PC? I had the same problem back in February and finally did the "clean" boot as they suggested and was able to get back on...now if I could afford a new, more gaming oriented PC, that would clear up some of the other issues I have...

    Turbine technical support can help with this stuff if you haven't tried them yet. Just need to do up a ticket and get the ball rolling on the Turbine website.

    I tried turbine tech support for this exact problem about 3 weeks ago and never got a reply except a ticket number... so, good luck with that! How do you do the clean boot thing?

    Cool

    I hesitate to advise it as it does leave your PC temporarily vulnerable to viruses and such and I am in no way a tech support type person -- I am surprised they did not respond with a result...usual method is they issue you a ticket and will look into your problem with a response in 1 to 3 business days. Anyway, the procedure for a "clean" boot that I was sent and used (nervously I might add) is:

    Windows Vista/Windows 7:
    NOTE: You may experience a temporary loss of some services functionality when you follow these steps. When you restore the settings, the functionality will be restored. However, the original error message or behaviour may return.
    1. Click Start, type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue;
    2. On the General tab, click Selective Startup;
    3. Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup Items check box;
    4. Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All;
    5. Click OK;
    6. Click Restart.

    Windows XP:
    NOTE: See above NOTE.
    1. Click Start, Click Run, type msconfig in the Open Box, and then click OK;
    2. On the General tab, click Selective Startup;
    3. Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup Items check box;
    4. Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All;
    5. Click OK;
    6. Click Restart.

    After the computer starts, test your game and see whether the problems occur.

    To restore the computer to use a normal startup after testing is completed:

    1. Start the System Configuration Utility again (msconfig);
    2. Click the General tab;
    3. Click Normal Startup;
    4. Click OK;
    5. Restart your computer.

    My PC uses Windows XP, so I followed those steps and tested the game both after "clean" boot and again after normal boot, and everything is back to normal. Again, I am in no way a tech person and typed the above verbatim from the printout I did back in February when it happened to me. I believe the idea was that a firewall or something could be blocking the load process and that this could correct it or something. For me it worked though I was pretty nervous about leaving my PC temporarily vulnerable (still haven't found/detected any viruses yet so I am guessing I am safe).
