Just a heads up, at ml8 you don't have any necro or enchantment spells that are really worth casting since you get firewall and when you do get your first effective necro spell (fod) you're high enough level to run the reaver for the napkin. I'd say vendor the scepter or try to sell it through trade channels.

Hypno, charm and holds are still useful even at low levels. Certainly agree about the necromancy though.

How may time are you in low levels?

These items are reasonably handy for a caster that doesn't have a napkin or better DC item yet. I usually hold on to bracers with nice DCs on them for when I roll new casters, but wouldn't both carrying a scepter. Unfortunately it's really not worth anything, 10k plat or so. Especially since +1 DC items don't stack with airship buffs.
