There was nothing wrong with Crystals Cove, it was the treasure you get from it, and the rubbish before it. It was enough fun.

You want epic items? Run epic quests/raids.
You want to get rich? Work on the AH stuff.
What's interesting/intriguing in obtaining an epic item in 1 day? Where's the challenge?
What's nice in plat-capping everytoon in 2-3 days?
Bah...never ever been to CC.

here it is
So...following this thought next event we could have "free +4 tomes" for everyone: doing that you won't need to run ToD 20-40 times anymore...it could be a great idea.
Morover, epic quests/raids are a filter that separate excellent players form good/normal/bad/noob players. After CC event everyone who has a capped toon can have 2-3 epic items on him...where's the challenge?
And then? When all of us will have +4tomes for each stat and 7-8 epic items on each toon...what will be do? God Mode quest/raids (lvl 40)?

CC was silly and fun. Maybe tweak the rewards a bit but I liked it.
Turbine will hardly sign that players play facebook games instead :-D
No you are confusing challenge with repetition , you dont need to be excellent to do epic you need to grind out a wizard with enough pastlifes to reliably mass hold monster or find a friend who has , then you need to swing your pick at the held monster until it is dead .
Having a vast amount of time to do this does not make you an excellent player . It dosent even define your ability in anyway .
Is it easier to climb up a cliff for a mile or ride a bike down hill for a 1000 miles , and further to that since you have mastered riding downhill for a mile is doing it for a furtherr 999 miles in some way more challenging than the first mile ? . Would you say that the person who rode down hill for a 1000 miles was excellent compared to the guy who only went a mile ?
This. Absolutely this. There is arguably ZERO challenge in running the same content over and over and over again. Eventually you know exactly how to handle it and you can play with one hand while reading a book. They may as well just say five months after attaining L20 we will mail you "item X".
Its not challenging to grind the same content for months and months for a random drop, on any level except the psychological. "How committed to the process are you" is the challenge, not "how good at the game are you"
The epics in the cove weren't super uber. They may have been better than some of the lower end epics you can grind for but there was nothing there to replace the eSOS, right?
Now, while I agree the cove may not have posed sufficient challenge, the mechanism was **** near perfect: you could see what was required to get the item you wanted, you could see how close you were getting to meeting that requirement, and it was possible to do it in a very small number of runs.
I have absolutely zero problem with the eSOS, for example, being reliably available in one run of the relevant epic quest, provided that one run is astoundingly difficult to succeed at and even someone who's run it dozens of times might fail if they make just one tiny mistake. I have a big problem though with it being available to someone who might turn up, contribute little and get the relevant scroll dropped randomly in their backpack on the first run which can happen now because it is random, and has little to nothing to do with skill.
Under my proposed 'skill based reward system', do I personally stand a chance of getting an eSOS? You know what? No I don't. And I'm fine with that too. Top tier gear should be available to top tier players. I'm not one of them.
The cove mechanic for getting your loot is a vast improvement and should be encouraged not shunned. If your problem is with the quality of the loot vs the ease of obtaining it... then that's a different issue, and you should be arguing for more difficulty from the event if you are really concerned with challenge.

As for all those who complained about the epic loot and suggest that its free gear, get over it. How many of those who complained did not get at least 1 epic item from Mabar and Crystal Cove?
Besides to really unlock the CC epic items they still need to get epic tokens to add the crystals effects on those epic items.
Our Guild leader hated the event becouse most of our guild was doing CC instead of Raiding.
But for me it was a nice change of pace and I loved the Kobolds and there text it added a nice flavor to the event.
And as a TR character just doing the cove I still gained 1 and a half levels during the event.
Life is just a candle and a dream
Must give it flame :Rush
Has anyone put up a haters gotta hate pic?
I find those really funny.

That comparison needs to take into account fitness and "skill" improvement and to some degree so does CCove. even if the rewards sucked and you couldn't farm plat I would probably still be running CCove now if it was available. Why? because my current record completion time while running torches is 10 minutes with a party of 5! however I have only managed to gather 140ish running it solo. I know I can improve on both of these and would love the opportunity to try.
DDO suffers very much from degraded repetition on so many levels because the quests are so static. traps remain the same locations in all but a few quests (that have random yet still fixed locations). Puzzles are restricted to simple puzzles that many use out of game helpers to solve (shroud and reaver's are the biggest). Like it or not even the most noob of players can find himself becoming an expert of any quests given enough attempts.
However CCove has probably the most random outcome and layout to date for any quest in DDO. The tech used to provide control over NPC's actions (kobolds), placement of objects in the world that NPC's interact with (torches) combined with random placement of objects (shrines and crystals) are MASSIVE steps forward to produce some truly unique quests in future Adventure Packs.
Well done Turbine! I look forward to the next A.P. (Update 9 maybe?).
I enjoyed this event more than all the others. The Crystal Cove quest was fun and had some randomness to it that made you change your path to maximize crystals. You got XP for the cove, so I didn't feel like I had given up leveling for a week to play this event.
Everything about participating in the event was more fun than Mabar. The public instance didn't penalize you for accidently killing low level spawns, plus either fewer people were running around in the instance or they had more instances. I never thought that I was crowded. I was allowed to pick my party and make sure I didn't end up in an impossible raid instance with half the spots empty.
Even the plat situation is OK by me. Tweak it if you want, or just remove the knock wands from the loot. If AH prices that I previously couldn't afford go higher, what do I care? The event was fun for me. Didn't really seem like a grind and it was possible to get groups in minutes.
The requirement for fitness for riding downhill is about the same as being able to get on a bike physically and maintain your balance. If you have that level of fitness you can do it forever .
You could pedal going downhill making your journey faster , but generally gravity will do the work for you if you cant be bothered .
I enjoyed it a lot and hope to see it come back again since I had other things to do and couldn't play around in the Cove nearly as much as I wanted to.
Rumor has it that the scaling of CC was not WAI, especially at 20+. Notice how little damage the mobs hit us for at those levels. Subsequent rumors suggest that such issues will be fixed the next time we see CC come out.
