    Default Amrath Spell DC

I have been curious about this for awhile. The newest event made me even more curious because on level 25 crystal cove I was able to reliably land mass holds, charm monster, and make them dance in my disco balls.

I don't have a ton of high end gear, but my enchantment spell DC is 40 and my necro spell DC is 38.

I went into the devil battlefield to check out my wizards effectiveness in enchantment / necro spells before the event. I found that my spells did not land as often as during the event.

Is the spell DC required higher then a level 25 quest?

Amrath mobs have unusually high saves for the level of content. This is at least partly due to the latent Greater Heroism present in the area; just like characters, they receive +4 to attacks, skill checks, and saves.

Amrath monsters have higher saves than most epic monsters.

Your enchantment is enough to land mass suggestion pretty well.

The necro spells don’t start working until you push into the low-mid 40’s, and even then it’s not 100%.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah the GH effect that everyone gets including mobs makes it though, but what I am looking for is the spell DC number so I can reliably use mass hold etc. in Amrath. Is it 42? 44?

Honestly I don’t mess around with mass hold in amrath because the monsters
don’t have enough HP to warrant its usage. Most of them can also be vorpaled.

Mass suggestion and/or web works a lot better in my experience.

~40 is fine for mass suggestion, a little less for web as devil reflex saves are poor.

Yes, for soloing mass suggestion is great. Pug groups however aren't so keen on mobs with purple hats. Plus, as with every arcane, I want to have the option of all my spells.....not be limited.

I was just hoping some spell DC calculating guru could give me actual numbers....or show me the math to figure out the numbers for a typical amrath mob.

    Thanks

Suggestion and hold are both will saves, so plan accordingly.

The bearded devils have a will save versus the school of Enchantment of about 27 in Normal Amrath. I haven't tested Hard or Elite. That means a DC37 will land 50% of the time and a DC47 100% of the time. The Orthons and tieflings tend to have a slightly lower will save but not but much. Casters have a higher will save of course.

A couple of things you may try for Amrath content up to elite:

Prep an area with Mind Fog before you cast Otto's Dancing Ball, Mass Suggestion/Charm, or Mass Hold. You can also do this on the run with mobs following you assuming you have a very high concentration skill or quicken. -10 to their will saves. You can also kite them in and out of the fog fairly easily if needed to force them to make rapid repeated will save checks against the fog.

If casting an enchantment based spell on a single target use level drain quickly followed by the spell. Energy drain is 2d4 negative levels which results in negative 2-16 on their will saves regardless of the spell description. You can easily use this to charm orange named on the battlefield and let them rampage among their minions. For example the orange-named minotaur in the recent event at level 25 was deathwarded. I used Otto's Irresistible, energy drained him once or twice, cast hold monster and let the melee destroy him in seconds.
