How much do you hit for?

Have to admit only been playing for 1 year or so and still think im a ***** when it comes to DPS. Just made level 19 and the average I hit for per strike is only 45 - 60 and crits being more obviously. I see alot of threads about damage per second but what about damage per strike?

I can solo most things but when I play with the uber level 20's in raids I see them taking down things in 2 hits when it takes me 5 or more.

Im a Str based halfling 12 fighter 7 monk using Qstaffs Resting str is 30 odd can buff to 50.

Ok after seeing that, next time I log in im going to drink a rage potion and quit. If you wanted to make a halfling cry you have been successful.

its your weapon of choice it has the worst stats of any. you are enough monk you would do better w/ duel LS or SS and still have stance as that is why you use the Qstf

I hit so hard the server goes down... only time I am allowed to bring my toon out is when the devs tell me it is time for a new update.

I'm hitting for about 56 + 51 sneak attack per regular hit (2-16 roll), and 125 + 51 sneak attack on critical hits (17-20), without buffs. I'm running a 13 rogue (acrobat)/6 fighter (kensai)/1 monk, so I have an increased attack speed. Resting str currently at 41.


*note, not saying your build is bad, just saying it is less than optimal for damage output here* The damage you're seeing doesn't look that bad for what you are playing. Really, seriously using quarterstaves as you primary weapons is pretty much not going to have as good a damage output except with rogue acrobats. For instance, you'd get a lot more damage with handwraps and the same levels, making use of the increased attack speed and TWF. However, you may not care and just want to use staffs with this set up for whatever reason, and that's cool, I'm okay with that. If there are any non-acrobat decent quarterstaff set ups, what you have would be one of them (along with some other monk set ups).

I'd expect most DPS builds to be doing some amount more damage than yours, but you may be seeing things skewed a bit, perhaps having watched someone kill said monster with 2 crits, that you couldn't tell were crits.

Others may have more to add here, but things don't look so bad here.

PS- if you're going str quarterstaff, epic souleater is something you definitely want to try to get a hold of.

Yes, I can confirm that I get fairly similar numbers to this using a quarterstaff with my horcrobat build when unbuffed, except that my crits are more like 200 + 50ish (since I primarily use a Rahl's Might with x3 multiplier on trash). I can push my base damage into the 60s with double Madstone, rage, and Titan's Grip clicky, and the low 70s with bard song, but that sort of stuff isn't really sustainable or reliable. Obviously weapon effects add on to this, but sneak attack damage is still between a third and a half of my total damage.

These sorts of builds are partly for flavor, so you can definitely expect a character using a "real" weapon (greataxe, khopesh, etc.) to out-damage you, Diyon and me. (Although it is worth noting that acrobat rogues do attack faster with quarterstaffs, and I have 9 uses per rest of Haste Boost III to pump that up even more.)
