Default Question on Pale Master form

Many pale master wizards I see are encased in a green hamster ball, while making a waca-waca continuous sound effect.

Does this disappear if you're inside the hamster ball, or is everything green-tinted? Because the animation and noise drives me nuts. Is there a way to turn them off, while still getting the benefit?

I'm thinking of trying a pale master wizard, but think the noise and graphics might drive me insane... hmm, maybe there's a connection there!

dunno about first person view, haven't tried offhand. standard POV, you just see your char surrounded by a green globe. which, by the way, doesn't accurately reflect the edge of the globe's effectiveness at all (it actually reachest further).

the sound is definitely present for pale masters, however.

I'm you zoom all the way to first person, it goes away. Otherwise, you're stuck trying to see through the concentric green spheres that shift in different directions as you move until you're vomiting in the trash can next to your computer desk.

    This.

There were a few threads a while back suggesting a cosmetic change, but everyone kinda got bored and wandered off.

I don't think it is so much that everyone got bored; there was some dev acknowledgment of the issue and a statement of looking into other graphical representations of the effect so that it wasn't so intrusive.

It should just be a quiet greenish or purplish aura that surrounds the caster (or arcane skelly), and should behave similar to the Radiant Servant aura (with negative energy instead of positive obviously).

Thanks for the replies. Guess I'll stick to an archmage template.

Yes there's tons of less intrusive effects like a purplish cloud like the radiant cloud or shadow in the ground like the dancing sphere.

The sound is annoying and probably can't even turn the sound off since it remind you the aura is up :-/

No wonder necromancers go mad, only to find the undead form doesn't block the suffering.

And worst thing, once you have played PM you probably won't say 'i'll stick to an archmage' and let your ears bleed.

PM is that good, eh? Sanity is for the weak, I'll let my ears bleed when the time comes then.

I actually don't think that it needs to get changed- maybe except bigger sphere, so all clerics can see and hear that you don't want deathward centered on you.

In my opinion it is, Warforge should go Archmage, everyone else should go Palemaster.
Look upon the ear bleeding as a feature, it drowns out the sounds of your party members crying about the green aura.

Oh Pale Master is incredible. (overpowered is perhaps the better word)
Never played one myself, but I've run with those who have and its insane. They can zerg through an elite Coal Chamber, killing just about everything, never having to run back for a heal (since they really can't anyway) and still might not even need to use the shrine. In Shavarath they can stand in front of the melee, being attack from all sides and have no concern for their health because they're healing more than they're taking damage.

Frankly I think they should up the HP cost for using the Necro powers since the current cost seems rather negligible. Perhaps making it a percentile cost rather than a static cost, but I'm sure everyone here (wizard forum and all) wouldn't be to keen on the idea being that doing so would actually make playing the PM challenging (well there's an idea)

Anyways, a good suggestion for a death aura is found here. Its my pick if devs ever get around to changing the aura.
