or did anyone else notice that standing at the entrance to the cove was like standing at the doors of Walmart or Best Buy on Black Friday morning waiting for the doors to open?

LOL, one difference though. Here we are hoping somebody gets trampled.
I thought of it as a demonstration of the classic free rider problem in economic theory. Everyone wants to go into the caves, but to open the doors we need map pieces from killing spawns. Now I could either go kill spawns for map pieces or take a break, get a meal and come back after everyone else did all that work for me. When everyone makes the same second decision and chooses to be a free rider the map piece turn in rate slows down significantly.
So kudos to Turbine for using the Bday event to teach us basic economic theory. They were in such a teaching mood that they also threw in a lesson about inflation. *cough* wands *cough*
I farmed exactly enough mobs to obtain 2 compasses (or is it compai? compeese?). Thereafter, I went AFK until the cove reopened. Thanks for farming map pieces, everyone else!!
Wands? Inflation? Whatever do you mean?![]()
