    Default off to rift

DDO has dumbed the game down so far, and put in soo many easy buttons it has really become un fun to play.
along with the F2P WOW factor it's becoming a WOW cloan with better mechanics.

honestly. after 5 years of hard core power gaming, and 35 yearws of DnD,i guess it was bound to happen.

as I have said elsewhere, you play a game and get to master lvl, then try to play with a novice ideaology.

    nada lada fun there.
    G-Landers PM for my stuff.

so long and thanks for all the fish.

You are leaving DDO, which you call a WOW clone, to go and play Rift?

Hm... (is all I can really say, the hypocrisy is just too much for me to handle...)

Dude every single MMO in the history of man kind gets dumbed down to:

    A) Attract new players.
    B) Get people to the new content quicker.

If you think Rift will be any different, you are new to the MMO community. In fact, based on your DDO vs WoW comparison, you ARE new to the MMO community. Have you even played WoW?

I played DDO five years ago, and yes, it's easier now than what it was, but it's infinately better with all the new content and fixes over the years. You still have to use your brain, and the game is still unique for it's challenging instances and awesome player base.

To me, it just sounds like you're over it. 5 years will do that to you, but you should depart with realistic expectations. No doubt we'll see you back however for the reasons I listed above (so don't give away all your gear just yet ).

Ok bye... it was nice knowing you. Wait who are you? (And why are you posting a goodbye attention seeking thread?)

We're all going to repeating those lines for months, aren't we? I've already done it out loud a few dozen times.

So let me get this straight...your leaving a optionally FREE game because you CLAIM is similar to "WoW" (you know it has classes and hp and stuff :P) to go play a P2P game that is essentially a direct copy of WoW that will die out just as quick as all the other upstart MMOs.

Really there's only three reason's this one isn't dead 1) It's DnD and were crazy loyal fans (same reason I think the new star wars MMO will survive even if it sucks) 2) Turbine was crazy enough to make it F2P 3) It's mechanics are completely unique when compared to any other MMO. (actually point 3 might just be a bit detrimental to its survival...people fear difference)

Now if only it could get a useful crafting system (i still say we just import LOTRO's system..and no Greensteel doesn't count) I'd probably never stop playing (well except for times like now that my PC has decided it doesn't like DDO and wont let me play)

Anyways have fun in your adventures in WoW Clone #2715....you'll be back.

Note: I wandered over there to check it out a while ago...you actually have to pre-order the game and pay for a month if you even want to try it out so my experiences with the game is from perusing the website and playing a little bit on my buddies Beta account.....there's not even a trial (to me this is the devs saying "We know our game sucks so hopefully we can at least get the cost of the game and a months sub outta yeah)

Oh and FYI it's spelled "Clone" not "Cloan"

Obviously he is someone that has been "hard core power gaming" here for 5 years, yet only started posting on these forums a few months ago.

Rift is basically just shiny and new. Shiny and new lasts only for so long.

When you take a critical look at the mechanics it employs, the only truly new item it brings to the table is its "souls" class system.
I mean its nice to give the player more options but ultimately the game play is no different than WoW , WAR, CO, COX, Aeon....the list goes on.

    You have your standard:
    Kill X quests
    Retrieve quests
    Go to Quests
    Use X on Y quests

And the newer addition to the MMO scene:
    Open/public Quests (the Rifts)

Tech that existed a few years ago with the launch of WAR. The only difference is its a bit more balanced and gives credit to all Archetypes (support, DPS, Tank).

But heres the kicker: none of these quests make you feel like you "are" your character. Their storytelling is bland and predictable same as most MMOs today. Only WoW and DDO stand out to me. The main difference between those two is that DDO actually produces playable content more often than 1 every 6 months. Blizzard has fallen far from what it used to be.

Morale of the story: Coming to the forums of any MMO to threaten leaving for X new game is pointless. Doubly so if you cant be bothered to properly spell and format. Quid pro quo: pointless post is pointless.

WoW is actually a DDO clone if you think about it.

Most MMO's are clones of D&D period, practically all ROLE playing games whether MMO or otherwise are influenced from D&D

ITT: Someone who can't spell complains about DDO being "dumbed down".

Eh, it's common that people move on from things they once like. It's incredibly hard for most people to just get stuck on a single thing forever.

The burning question on my mind though -

Why is this posted in the General DDO discussion thread and not Off-topic chat?
