    Default New event and rogues

Starting on light foot I was having fun with my rogue in smugglers rest, I thought finally something for my rogue to enjoy other than risa. Then went into crystal cove and ???? Undead. Of, course after a day I was denied into parties and why not? just need some wizards, cleric, and a tank and you have it. So I do what I always do for events and grinding (orchard tapestry's, sands bloodstone) switch to wizard and play. Now before anybody says buy a +5 greater undead bane, they are very hard to find and very expensive still for the moment to buy. Green steel crafting is a option with greater disruption but have some minII, rad, and HP items to get out of the way first and this will take a long while.

So devs I'm not for sure what to say about how to balance the game with the undead but if you put them in the events rogue characters are just left out.

Half the creatures are hobgoblins. Then there's the bugged zombie with each group of undead that's actually critable/sneak attackable. These bugged zombies also heal from my aoe healing and radiant burst instead of taking damage from it.

There is plenty to kill as a rogue. You just need to pick out which ones you kill, or scout for purples.

This. if you're getting blocked from groups because you're a rogue, then those groups are morons - they just need to accept if you see undead you're going to yell 'undead in the north east!' and run away looking for something you can kill quickly. You'd be welcome in my groups. /shrug.

why are you pugging, anyway? this event is the perfect spot to run with friends and guildies . You get to talk as much s**t as the kobolds without getting reported or scarring a childs mind :P

The zombie pirates can be sneak-attacked, the humanoids too, and the best way to deal with skellies is firewall. My rogue does perfectly fine there

The event is fine with rogues, many of them in there i wouldnt deny a rogue simply for being a rogue, half the foes in cove they can hit.

Now, of course i can deny a dumb rogue. Such as the one who was helping me fight Spectre Jack and a orange-red sidekick. The rogue of course instead of attacking the sidekick who could be sneak attacked, instead decided to try and help kill the spectre who was already in my firewalls/inferno cloud..

We don't kick due to your class, we kick due to stupidity.

Or the warrior who told me to just stand there to let the spawn focus on me while he attacked, and of course i replied back well my firewalls/inferno cloud along with me maximizing/empowering my archmage bolt/mm/chain missile will let me do about 2-3x the damage your doing.. how about you just swing your sword and let me worry about mage stuff.

I only ran "taking the first X who hit the LFM" groups. It doesn't matter if the rogue can't kill the skellies fast - as long as he keeps them away from the kobolds, I don't care if just kites.
Ghallanda - now with fewer alts and more ghostbane

I ran with at least 2 rogues. We didn't block any from our joins if we were looking for melee.

This, especially depending on how many were there, where the casters were is the key. Get the aggro and survive to get it to the firewall, if you can't take it down yourself. Shoot standard scouting I would run east and then to the water fall and pull whatever I could back to one or 2 firewalls to cook in about 15 seconds.

My kid's 11rog/3fig/1barb did almost all the killing when we duo'd and had no problems. Get blunt weapons.

I'd like to say that I'd never deny a player based on their class but I might not invite a rogue if there was already one in the group. That said, I can't imagine that the cove quest was nearly as biased against rogues as the smuggler's rest questing area was trecherous for casters. I found myself wishing that the items were bound to account, not to character, so I could use my wizard in the cove quest and any of my other characters in the public questing area, then put the proceeds together later. (The items were bound to character, right?)

That said, if anyone who reads this thread denied the OP a spot in your party because you have a problem with rogues, shame on you (unless you're a paladin in RL).

In fact, I never managed to get a group of more than 4 players together for the event quest. We just filled the party with hirelings. There would have been room for any class in my party, so sorry you didn't send me a tell.

OP: You were probably better off not being picked up by those groups. A radiance weapon for the trash hobgoblins and some maladroits for the named bosses are all you need in there. Your casters should be the ones making short work of the skeles.

The only BtC items from Crystal Cove are the hats. And you can just send the components over to other characters via the shared bank making that a non-issue.
Things worthy of Standing Stone going EXTREME PREJUDICE™ on.:
    • Epic and Legendary Mysterious ring upgrades, please.
    • Change the stack size of filigree in the shared bank to 50. The 5 stack makes the shared bank worthless for storing filigree in a human usable manner.
    • Fixing why I don't connect to the chat server for 5 minutes when I log into a game world.
    • Fixing the wonky Lightning Sphere and Tactical Det firing by converting them to use alchemist spell arcing.
    • Redoing the drop rates of tomes in generic and raid loot tables.

    Your wish is granted!

...and this is why you should look at the item information, rather than assuming. I put all my items in my shared bank account, and just grabbed what I needed on whichever character I wanted to run/craft for at the time.

I either got into an existing group with no problems, or I made my own group, while running the event on my rogue. No issues here.

Doh! Looks like I was the fool! I could have cleaned up if I had noticed. I guess the message to the OP then is that they should have a developed alt character ready for events like this. The message for me is that I shouldn't look at one item and make assumptions without doing a little homework (or just continuing to read).
