    Unhappy The Underlying Connection Was Closed

    Unable to connect to the remote server

    ==================

    Thats the thing im getting for the past, i dunno day and a half now ever since that Bday Bash has started happing...
    Before the game ran smoothly and i was able to organize everything for my Guild "Killers Inc"

    But now, i cant even log in, or even get the Log In Screen itself...

    I want to know how to fix it

    -=========

    I have already by-passed Anti-Viral, Trojan Scanners, Firewall Settings.... Didnt need to do that since it was already working...

    I have the latest Direct-X program.... was working perfectly with that before

    I have a good mobile phone internet company which ran it good before....

    Uninstalling/Reinstalling/Getting Newer files by downloading didnt work (Wasited some of my net allowence over it)

    ---------------

    It basically went crud like since i logged from that birthday bash, i think im in miridia or gianthold on the orien server, but thats it....

    I am VIP status and have basically bought an awful lot of DDO Points since ive joined the game, you can even check the records,

    =============

    I want to get back to playing this game and it doesent help the fact that the "Live Tech Support Chat" doesent work for Ireland, emailing Tech Support, takes too long... And ringing Account services is pointless since its got nothing to do with Tech Support like they said....

    So i want A number so i can Ring Tech Support, or a detailed Scematics on what to do on how to fix my Big Proplem here, because i have alreay looked up on the wiki, support pages and the likes for my thing and it is not written Anywhere....

    So please for the love of the gods... Help me out

    Yours Very Upset and Saddend

    Well, the only thing I can see that we have in common here is the turning off, then back on again of the anti-virus and firewall stuff. I did it to see if it would help with lag, but it didn't. Also, my daughter's computer had a virus so she was messing with the anti-virus thing yesterday? I hope this helps, let me know if you have any luck here.

    Default Hello Irish

    Have you tried the http://support.turbine.com listed at top of this page. Also in a post below yours, ( issues with launching the launcher ), post # 4 in that thread has some information on other ways to contact turbine for support.

    Yes, that's exactly what I'm seeing too, and it started yesterday. I went to the turbine web site and typed in, The underlying connection was closed, in the troubleshooting category I found there. I got some reference to internet explorer. I'll have to get my daughter to look into it because I know very little about computers. Have you checked other forums to see if anyone else is having this problem? Anyway, good luck. Let me know if you discover anything, it seems a rather odd coincidence that this happened to us both on the same day? IDK

    No where... They have support for other connection type problems but not this one here, as you can see, your the only other person who has typed here about it

    OK, so here's what worked for me. I am playing on my daughters computer as a guest user with my own limited start up page. I always assumed that I could not access the game from my account because there is no big Ikon on the main page, so I always had my daughter switch to her user so I could play. Last night I hit start on my account and went to show programs and found turbine there. I hit that and got a sub menu with ddoclient or something like that, I clicked on that and it loaded the game, no problem. I don't understand why I still can't load the game from her main user account because that was where I always played the game from before this little problem happened. This is so confusing no? Anyway, I hope this helps you.

    It also may have something to do with your web browser. We have mozilla firefox and internet explorer and my daughter had one of them listed as the main browser, I think it WAS mozilla but may not be anymore because I have been messing with things myself. Don't tell her I did that OK, lol So maybe somehow what I have NOW on my account is the difference? IDK

    We loaded the game on the main user account. It loaded fine from there until 2 days ago, when this underlying thing started. Now it loads from my Guest user and not the Main. I don't get it? Good luck Irish, sounds like you need some of that Luck of the Irish right now.

    Default Browser

    The reason I mentioned the browser is because NOW, when I load mozilla on my guest user I get a message that says, FireFox is not listed as your default browser. Would you like Firefox to be your default browser? I never got this message before. I click the X and ignore or close that window because I'm afraid that I might not be able to load the game if I do so. This is something that is different between the accounts and I still can't load the game on the main user without getting the underlying closed problem. It's still loading just fine from the Guest account . We only loaded the game one time on the main user account. I hope this helps.

    Internet Explorer doesn't have to be the default browser on Windows its just that the game launcher shares its system-wide connection settings so if IE can't connect neither can the game launcher.

    I would log back into your regular user account on Windows and check what is outlined here (reply 7 in the "Common Tech Issues" thread here) and then if that doesn't fix it try the steps here.

    Did you ever get your system working, and if so what was the problem? Or should I say what was the solution for you?

    I have the same "unable to find underlying server" thing that you guys had. I tried messing with the firewall setting (which worked for a different issue last month) but with no joy. Please let us know if you get back into the game... and how!

    Helping a friend who has same problem. DDO worked yesterday. IE connects, runs with no problem. Not finding any problem with the firewall blocking the program from loading.

    Has anyone found a fix or do we have to reload DDO?

    Just tried to log on today and ran into this....(Heavy sigh).....Went thru the steps listed by mirthgar and currently working on the reinstall on framework(Crosses fingers) hope it works after this.

    Edit: Also as a note, in the ddo firewall help page it gives a link to win7 firewall help that comes up as a error.

    Update: Nope didn't work, going to try setting up a guest account and see if that works.

    Update 2: Another no.....

    Update 3: Decided to try a fresh reinstall (turned off firewall and anti-virus), this fixed the issue (for me anyway) but getting a notepad like news feed now at the log in screen tho
