Problems with the new event preview

I started with the dagger on my Wizzy.

I also like the full plate as a possible upgrade over DT on a couple builds and a Spyglass would be nice...for my Exploiter and my Rogue.

we were running on our level 13's which i think may be the best total level for the event (TR + greensteel that is). we were continuously spawning hobs and bugbears that went down in 3 swings or less. of course, if a level 20 swoops through and spawns 2-3 of those minotaur cannoneers you can get wiped.

anyway, we got 5k xp for crystal cove at 15 (2 above), 5500 for 16(3 above), and 6k for 17. we didn't try any higher because the AC's of the mobs jumped by 20 points at 17.

That is good info. With the 25%(?) bonus this weekend, that is a pretty good pay off.

That Spy Glass is vexing me. If I set up the hat the way I want it - with Seeker +6 - then I lose Toughness in the hat slot. As I only occasionally run epics it would be hard for me to pick up Toughness in another item for my evasion fleshies - there just aren't that many items with blue/green slots in them. The Spy Glass handles that need. That said, I'd still want to use Tharne's goggles (which cover +15/20 for the spot/search and the true seeing leaving just +5 search/spot, +3 umd, +2 exc int, and +15 to one skill as the reasons to slot the Pirate Hat/Spy Glass over Minos/Bloodstone. The only thing I'd add is that if you took the time to get the bold trinket you could swap between shocking blow/+1dmg/+2exc. seeker and the +5 search/spot, +3umd, +2exc int, and toughness. That would be nice as you don't always need those extra 20hp's while the extra damage is almost never a bad thing.

So that setup is tempting. But that's a lot to spend on what looks to be a marginal benefit. Also tempted to just break down and do the gloves for my monk but he gets a lot less play than my 14pal/3mnk/2rog healing amp tank that's looking to TR to a Helves Angel build (12fig/6rng/2mnk half elf khopesh or pick/arcane archer).

So I guess what I'm saying is that just like Mabar this event turned everything on its head gear-wise for me. I welcome the options but they're definitely hard to figure out when you don't have the time to just get everything and sort it out later.

heh, i have over 600 treasure map pieces (guidies have about that many). we are going to try for a "back to back" event during prime time ;-)

It was fun and smooth so far. I hope it carries over to this weekend, but I've been here to long to EXPECT that to happen.

I noticed the server will be brought down this morning for a hotfix. Looks like they're adding the lag. Seriously though I got a brief run around the island and it was pretty fun. I am looking forward to this event.

btw, it looks like there is a problem in the distribution of coins in parties. the person who does minimal killing is only getting about 20% of the coins of the ones who do a ton of damage. since the coins are BtA, you can't redistribute them to make that up like you could with motes

Doesn't matter. turn in emeralds in the barter box and get 200 copper, 100 silver, 50 gold coins. turn in a diamond and get 400, 200, 100 of each. run the quest not the area
