A few people have asked about my hate tank build, and I wanted to put it up for discussion and feedback anyways. here it is hope you enjoy it.

Disclaimer: This is a power gamer build with lots of gear grinding, it could be done on 32 points but having the gear pre-grinded(ground?) is key to this builds fun factor IMO.



Tharashk Champion a THF, 600+ hp, 90+ ac with power attack, 30+ all saves, evasion, hate tank, half orc monster.

Is there no place others would make changes? I feel this is about as good as this build gets(not counting E chrono 3 piece) but I'm open to discussion or questions concerning decisions made with the current incarnation.

I'm impressed with that AC on a hate tank, and a very capable one as well. The healers in ToD must love that. I just turtle and intim.

You can't hit elite hound or epic lialat 100% but that is about it.

Have you considered whther you can fit CE in. You would need to take 5 points from somewhere, likely wisdom, so you lose 2 AC all the time for a potential +5 in max AC mode. You have the intim to hold aggro without PA on so that shouldn't be an issue. You would also get more skills for balance and more UMD.

very nice only thing im missing is enough cha/int to make it possible to use silverflame pots otherwise cant think of anyting thats not attractive with the build, with +2guild stat boost its cheap to get ability to use them.
myself have no desire towards making one of these so can only speak theory.

does this build use wraps on undeads or crit immunes?

Recitation doesnt effect skills IIRC so Good Luck would be your only choice unless you can settle for +1 from Prayer.

I would use Tharnes while doing DPS personally atleast its an extra 8 dmg per swing while in auto crit for epics.

They do, our hard elite runs are pretty easy to tank, also calling in the DPS the second I get horoth in the corner is cool too. Although my last hard run I rolled a 1 on disentigrate, had 3 badges tick, and a 1 on DBFB, all in about 3 seconds not cool but I would have needed 850-900 hp to handle that badluck

I just changed the build a little, I dropped bullheaded and 1 intim for stunning blow and +1 to umd, I still need to grind a few Pieces of gear to get my intim to 79 before those changes, and I may change it back when fully geared. Going to try out my current set up tho, I think with the ratkiller Stunning blow is more needed for epics.

I have considerred it, but so far CE is unneeded. As it stands right now after playing him awhile I would really only turn it on in ToD after the group goes to sully, and in HOX.

I love the DPS of power attack combined with High AC and Hate, All in all this guy is a hate tank, he can hit a pretty good intim, and a high AC, but the main role is hate Via DPS, Also not being a total gimp when only DPS is needed.

1 last point about CE, If I lose 2 AC from wisdom, for a +3 net, I can always turn on Defensive fighting for +2 more, with only 1 less AC and it won't cost me the build points or the feat.

VERY similar to my Meathelmet build (see my sig). They are EXTREMELY effective and make difficult content easy. They hold aggro extremely well, you never have to worry about lag causing the intim to foul up, and healers love them. Mine gets held up by scrolls on Horoth in Tower hard or on Sulu Elite. He needs some more AC for Elite Horoth but he'll get there with gear.

He holds aggro with claw-set equipped ESoS horc barbs hitting in the back with Combat Expertise on with a 10 second head start. Once I get the Claw gloves he wont' even need that.

I went dorf on my and likely will stay dorf for the extra HP. 700+ is nice for Horoth. I also have the option to reset enhancements and become a Kensai, he's typically a stalwart during the weeks and Kensai over the weekend.

Don't expect a lot of responses here. If it's not the latest incarnation of the "Max-DPS-HORC-Manasponge" that's been posted 497 times nobody will reply.

With a cha cloak on, and the +6 int I'm thinking about sloting on Ratkiller,( I have no where else to put it) I will be able to drink SF pots np.

The only time I put wraps on is for rustys and slimes, but that is just because I'm too lazy to get a good Everbright 2 hander, Handwraps would be ineffecitent on this build due to no TWF and 2 lvls monk. Although Hand wraps are great at levels 2-4 when you can use the no min lvl Fernian handwraps until you hit 4 at which point you should be using the Carni until your 8/12 greensteel.

Right you are, change the final Intim number to reflect that.

This is one more reason I'm thinking about swapping SF: intim for 1 more toughness
