    Question Must-have spells?

Assume I'm a complete newbie and want to run a Spellsinger.

I want to do hjealz and crowd control with my spell focus in Enchantment.

Which spells are the MUST-HAVE ones, where if I didn't have them on demand, I'd probably be kicked from the group for a "proper bard who isn't a n00b".

Haste, Greater Heroism, Disco Ball... anything else?

I'm no expert, but this is what I'd consider relatively standard:

Blur, Rage, Haste, Displacement, Freedom of Movement, Greater Heroism, Otto's pretty much everything, and every Cure spell you can get except maybe Light and Moderate.

If you don't have most or all of those, people will probably look at you funny. Then there's spells like Dimension Door, Heroes' Feast, Break Enchantment, and others that are useful but might not get you funny looks if you don't have them.

Ill also add Soundburst for Lower to midlevel quests b4 you get Disco Ball--but it also works on some mobs at higher lvl that Disco Ball doesn't catch all that great--until you can get Greater Shout.

Anyway, my Bard Solo'd most everything til lvl 14 using it.

For cure I used Light and Moderate as more items are readily available sooner to give them a boost, and then just switched to using scrolls.

mass suggestion for sure since it doesnt have a spell resist check and just raw dc
and it's the only full duration charm bards have the charm mobs/humanoids have a
chance to break every 15~30 seconds.

Another one altho competing with some lvl 3 spells is good hope.. good hope is a good
indicater when songs run out they will get the good hope emblem above there head.

If you wanna do crowd control its best to get used to break enchantment also to get rid
of enemy spells and your own when needed. It can also remove status ailments from you like
    blind for instance.

Detect secret doors is a pretty nice one for a lvl 1 spell slot too especially in things like
waterworks and anything byond that ofcourse .

Focusing chant for the +1 to skill

Sleep and deep slumber to make low lvls sleep in barfights.. verry funny they see them drop on
the ground and have the lill ZzZzZzzzz above there heads. Deep slumber also works on a lot of mobs
up to invaders yea the reavers sleep too seriously go try.

freedom of movement you remember how fast you died when you were lvl 4 and those kobold shamans
hold you and all the other 20 kobolds run towards you and connect every hit.. it hurts like #)$(# it will
happen a few times more in gianthold and maybe in the vale too get it its nice .ps helps vs sleetstorms
    too adn other assorted fogs..

greater dispel : has its use.. do a lot of pvp ? tired of stupid casters and there 400 buffs.. dance em and
then hit em with dispel magic and see how tough they are without there 400 buffs .

This is what I have right now on my Leiralei at level 20.

    Level 1: focusing / ottos / merfolk's / hypno / charm
    Level 2: cure mod / blur / glitterdust / invis /rage
Level 3: cure serious / haste! / displace / despair / good hope
Level 4: disco / break enchantment / fom / hold monster / ddoor
Level 5: mass cure light / gh / mind fog / mass suggestion / shadow walk
Level 6: mass cure mod / oid / mass charm / greater shout

The only problem with this list is that I'm missing the OH**** cure critical wounds, and have to take cure mod in case there's a need to cycle singleperson cures. But it gets me both break enchantment and hold monster which are both very important for epics.

I don't use charm much anymore and might swap it for something but really what's useful at level 1? Expeditious retreat? lol

If only we got heal spell at level 5 I'd use scrolls for shadow walk.

    Hypnotism
    Rage, Invis, Blur, Glitterdust
Haste, Displacement, Crushing Despair, Good Hope
Otto's Sphere, DDoor, Hold Monster, Cure Critical Wounds, Freedom of Movement
Mass Cure Light, Mass Suggestion, Greater Heroism
Mass Cure Moderate, Mass Charm Monster, Otto's Irresistable Dance

Some of these are a bit less necessary but are nice choices for an enchantment spellsinger.

Level 1 spells tend to be a bit open to what you want to cast vs what items you have. I like having sound burst and greater shout for stuns if I need something more and sonic blast is actually a decent spell at low levels.

If you take from the list above and then fill in a few with what you prefer you will be fine for spells.

Really must have spells: Rage, Blur, Haste, Displacement, Otto's Sphere, Freedom of Movement, Greater Heroism, Otto's Irresistible Dance, and healing is pretty much the expectation from a spellsinger.

You can do a lot with a disco ball, OID and fascinate but the edge you have over a different CC class that makes you a worth while addition to the party is buffing and healing in the same party slot as CC, and you need to be able to contribute outside of CC because CC is not always the answer. So do not neglect buffing and healing.
