Directx 9 with Windows 7

I cannot attach to the server, and another forum post suggested I download directx 9 and it will solve the problem. I used the given link and tried to download it, but it said I had a newer compatible version and it will not download. I currently have directx 11. Do I have to delete that and then download 9? I don't like deleting anything, being worried I will seriously screw something up.

Thanks for any input...brand new computer and can't play DDO...maddening!!!

Microsoft DX has nothing to do with the ability to connect to a DDO Server.

You need to tell us what kind of error you are getting.

I am having the same issue as sallysmith posted just below my post. She solved it with Directx 9, but it doesnt seem right to have to delete my Dx 11. I hopped on her post and then started this thread. Her post has all the issues and history. I get to my character page and can see my characters names, but no picture of the character like in the past. I select a character, and it goes to the load screen, but never loads

The other thread didn't suggest downloading Directx9 but that sallysmith selected Dx9 in the DDO graphics options in order to get past the launcher based on the notice at the top of this page:

Known Issue: Black Screen With Visible UI: Some Intel users may find that when DirectX 10 is enabled, only their UI is visible and the rest of their screen is black. If this occurs, we recommend you disable DX10, enable DX9, and restart the game client.

You don't need to uninstall or install any directx components.
