Having a global chat channel is one of the few things I miss from my brief time playing Lotro.
So...anyone?

I'm sure there's quite a few - I participate in one called "BYOH".
There's a password on it to keep out the riff-raff though![]()

Several private channels exist for cross-guild collaboration in raids, TR's, epics, etc.
Asking around in epic raids and 6-man instances would probably be your best bet.
To my knowledge there is no "generic server-wide" channel besides general.
I'm pretty generic, and participate in several chat channels.
There are many channels in play. There is nothing to stop you from creating a 'global chat channel' yourself, but I know there would be a lot of people who simply wouldn't join (the same people who turn off general chat).
Many chat channels are in operation for specific reasons though, primarily to organize between 'friendly' guilds or groups of people. Some of these are very exclusive, some less so.
Simply viewing the horrible spam of chat in market and harbor general, I can't help but think it'd be a 'first thing I turn off on a new toon' kind of thing.
Its called abbot1

the harbor general chat. its a wealth of help and information.
Many people seem to use the Advice Channel as a general chat as well. . .

You know, when I first joined Abbot1, I was informed that the information was to be never made public (and I had to get permission to bring in anyone else). And then it became public and swarmed with players from guilds who really didn't belong (no offense to them). So I left Abbot1.
