    Default Implement De-Crafting

    1) We all know how long and tedious crafting greensteel can be for those of us who dont farm daily/weekly or have any alts for that matter.

    2) Im sure some of us have stayed up attempting to craft half asleep...oops.

    3) Current tr lives that do not need that gs anymore due to gear swap/alterations.

    4) Sign FTW?

let us do it like with dt armors to put new shards in and destroy/replace the old one.

Yeh I'm in favor of crunching up items for some (or all) of the ingredients back.

It's not just mistakes, but changes in the game too make hard won GS items useless. I crafted GS on a necklace for example before Amrath came out but I've had to bank it now because of the TOD necklace/ring combos.

Would you consider giving back all the xp and loot derived from said GS
weapons/items as new things have filled their slots?
You see in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig.

I'm also in the "make it work like SOS" camp.

Its not because they've release newer items to make my greensteel obsolete.

It's because they've changed our characters with new/different game mechanics (IE TWF), and PrE's to make my greensteel obsolete.

The game is continually evolving, so it's nice to be able to change with it.

I figured i would attract some attention of people that are opposed to the idea however, I do not understand how someone would not appreciate the fact of being able to get all those larges back. I think this would be a simple implementation as simple as the pic you asked for.

Well what would you say to someone who spent 6 months running "Insert name of Quest" for a "Insert name of previously best item for slot" item , only to have another better item come out ?

Theres no way to get a redo on that either . He cant trade it in for a different item that maybe he took of the 40th completion list tha would better suit his needs now

I've always imagined that they didn't allow decrafting because there are multiple ways to make one particular manufactured ingredient and it would cost too much memory to store exactly how a particular ingredient was made.

Of course you could pick a standard set that all manufactured ingredients revert to, but I can imagine a few people being ****ed that they lost particular ingredients... and I can also imagine people abusing it to duplicate ingredients (i.e. make something with 2 scales and 10 other ingredients and get back 3 scales and 9 other ingredients).

And you'll probably hear just as many complaints from people if you give back half (or whatever to ensure duplication is impossible) the ingredients people spent, because that's still lost ingredients.

All and all I'm not really sure how they can do it without either
    1. People still complaining they lost ingredients.
    2. People abusing the system to trade particular ingredients for other more valuable ingredients.
    3. Taking up a huge chunk of their servers memory.

Hey look, its the monthly greensteel deconstruction thread!!

I think it would be awesome to be able to redo a tier by placing the GS item into the same altar with the proper prepped shard for that tier and the new craft replaces the old one for that tier.

I screwed up my first GS great ax in the spring of 2008 and didnt double shard. DOH!! - the screw up is mine but I think it would be awesome if I could just double shard the last tier again instead of having to make an entirely new weapon to replace it. All it does now is give me 2 stone skins per day.

    thanks for the pic.

I've explained my opposition to decrafting greensteel in a dozen other threads so I won't bother with doing it again here.
Just know this, the devs have been clear on this that they have no plans for this and don't like the idea. That means it's coming in Update 10

Just curious why you are against it? If they did put in an option to deconstruct gs you wouldnt have to use it. Your game wouldnt change at all (unless you sell blanks or blank ingredients).

never mind, just saw the previous thread.

Actually my friend kate stated that she had interest in being able to reshape or deconstruct items as well. Guess even the producer made some crafting errors.
