Default Teach me how to do this quest/raid!

Are you tired of following along as other people do all the work while you learn nothing?
Is there some quest or raid that you want to learn how to do properly, but have never had the chance?
Examples: VoN5, Tempest Spine, Twilight Forge, newbies to Shroud, random confusing quest #7

If so, speak up. We'll find a time to set up a training wheels run so that you can actually learn what the heck is going on while those 3 people run off and complete the entire quest for you. Maybe next time you can be one of those people. Maybe a handful of times after that you can teach someone else.

First things first, check out Spyderwolf's Video Library of Quests and see if it helps you. Mad props to Spyderwolf for all his hard work on those. If after watching the video you still have questions, we'll set up a time to run you through it. And if you want to learn a quest that I have no knowledge of....then either someone else will teach you or I will learn it first. I won't guarantee that it will happen fast, but we'll get to all of the requests eventually.

Students: When asking for a lesson, post your toon's name and class here with the name of the quest you want to learn and an approximate day/time you'd like to learn it. Please allow at least one week to schedule.
If I cannot be available for that day/time, then we'll find someone else willing to teach you.

Teachers: If you'd like to volunteer your services, please post here and keep an eye out for requests that you'd be able to fill.
If you agree to lead a training run, post here and start a sign-up for it that will be linked in this post.

And don't you Euros worry, we'll get some [more] runs in for you eventually.

Oh, I have a huge list. From the top of my head:

    1. Twilight Forge -never run.
    2. Tomb of the Tormented
    3. Hawyire's Foundry (the part where some guy goes activate something past the fire traps.. or something).
    4. Crucible maze.
    5. Shroud pt 2, 3 (not the puzzle itself, but what is happening during that time?)
    6. Reaver's fate - someone has to fly up and flick a switch?
    7. Monastery of the Scorpion (the puzzles and some anti-gravity thing)
    8. Von 5 and 6: what is happening??

    That's all for now.

Awesome. Glad to see some initiative.
I'll go on a point by point basis here.

    1. Twilight Forge -never run. Piece of cake. In order to actually teach you all 4 puzzles we have 2 options:
    a. 4 separate runs, with you following once on each side.
    b. 2 separate runs, both shortman'ed with 6 people.
    2. Tomb of the Tormented I KNEW someone was going to call me out on this one.... This quest has the most fitting name of any in the game. We'll have to drop this one down on the list so I can learn it first, which will be a nightmare.
    3. Hawyire's Foundry (the part where some guy goes activate something past the fire traps.. or something). Piece of cake. It'll take all of 5 minutes to show you this.
    4. Crucible maze. Easy once you know it.
    5. Shroud pt 2, 3 (not the puzzle itself, but what is happening during that time?) Unless I'm misunderstanding the question, then nothing is happening. But we'll schedule a training wheels run through Shroud just in case.
    6. Reaver's fate - someone has to fly up and flick a switch? Piece of cake. Bring someone with HP.
    7. Monastery of the Scorpion (the puzzles and some anti-gravity thing) That puzzle is simple once you understand it. When we're done, you'll understand it.
    8. Von 5 and 6: what is happening?? Similar to Twilight Forge insomuch as we'll need multiple runs if you want to see it all.

    That's all for now.
Which one do you want to learn first, and when are you usually on?

Thanks a lot for the response. I only have 1 toon on Khyber (lvl 17 ranger tempest). It's untwinked and non-TRed. So it's kinda gimped. ;P

On weekdays I play around 9.30 -11.30 am EMT(?) (not that familiar with US timezones, and I'm living on the other side of the globe). On weekends I'm a bit more flexible, though I'm a bit busy this entire week and may not be able to play at all.

I don't have any preference on which to start first, though the Titan Raid would be nice. And the Shroud question, I actually meant what is happening in Pt 3 after you solve the puzzle? I see folks running around and saying, "which one not purified" and the DM voice says something like that as well.

I write my own schedule, so barring events that I absolutely have to be present for, I can accommodate anything needed as long as I have a little notice.

In the rooms with the puzzles, there are empty fountains. These are the basins with a statue of a head above them off to the side or against the back wall.
You know the two underwater chests?
Above the water at the top of the ramp is another statue head.
Once the puzzle is complete, and only once the puzzle is complete, climb the ramp and click on the statue head above the chests. This will give you a vial of pure water.
Take that vial to a completed puzzle and click on the statue head above the empty basin.
    This is called "running water."
Doing so will purify said fountain.
Once all the puzzles are completed the extra chests become available. Once all fountains are purified part 3 is complete.

    OP updated with the following:

Students: When asking for a lesson, post your toon's name here with the name of the quest you want to learn and an approximate day/time you'd like to learn it. Please allow adequate time to schedule. No "tomorrow at 4pm" please, because that may be difficult to arrange so quickly.
If I cannot be available for that day/time, then we'll find someone else willing to teach you.

Teachers: If you'd like to volunteer your services, please post here and keep an eye out for requests that you'd be able to fill.

    1. Protect Baudry's Interests
    2. that one in the Harbor with the spiders (I keep failing before I can get Ransack)
    3. Finding the Path (not the quest, just why that rusty never goes after that big metal-looking guy, even when I'm not carrying anything metal)

Alright, I have a 20th lvl sorcerer and what I need more than anything else right now is a pair of seven fingered gloves. However the Titan raid is mostly refered to as "dead" anymore and I can't find anyone with the old and archaic knowlege of how this raid is done.

I have searched the wiki and I have found a description but that is no substitute for a guide. I play on Tuesdays mostly, unless you are a very late night kind of person. I Will go and flag for this quest and will be ready by next tuesday, send me a pm here on the forums and we can figure out when we can do this.

Thank you for your effort to help the knowlege base, if we don't try teach others then we can't complain about their ignorance, and this is Khyber... We really love to complain.

    Tuesday is perfect.
I often lead a Titan on Tuesday nights at approximately 9 pm central time [GMT -6], although I have been slacking in that lately.
I will make certain to run one this coming Tuesday. Both of you have spots saved for it if you're both available.
PM me your toon's name or post it here.
We'll do the opposing side the following Tuesday.

    Calebro,

I'd like to join you on the Twilight Forge / Titan run. I've been in them once before and was sort of dragged along.

Cale, you know if I'm not in one of my raid-trains, or one of my own training wheels runs, I'm available for your stuff. I'm good with all the raids (Titan Red side is a weakness, but I'm gangbusters with Green). Look for me to start doing Inexperienced Toon Welcome Raid Trains as real LFM posts in early March as I wait for a few Game/Guild/RL commitments to work themselves out.

    I hate time zones , i thought 9pm on a gmt -6 would be 3pm at gmt , it confuses me .

Heres a list of stuff Id need help on if its available

The Twilight Forge is also a mystery to be . I couldnt even find one of the flagging quests as that whole place confuses me .

The Abbott , never done that one and never see groups up for it either .

VoD , never done this one either .

Von 5 id like to have a better idea of what I am doing other than , go there and press that

Others that id like to learn but not high on list

    The Crucible Maze
    The Pit .
Id also be intrested in knowing any tactics that help with the Monastry of the scorpion puzzle , I can do all the shroud ones but the Monastry one dont seem to follow any pattern I can see and often revert to a solver .

Also big thank you for OP for this thread and sentiment

Is that a request for the 6th spot next Tuesday, or just a comment.
If it's a request for the spot, I need your toon's name [and class]

The Abbott , never done that one and never see groups up for it either . Abbot is one of the runs that I would pass off to one more knowledgeable than myself.

VoD , never done this one either . VoD is simple and extremely straight forward. I really don't think a special training run is needed. Just join a pug and tell them it's your first time. If they have a problem taking a newbie on a VoD they're just a jerk. Mechanically speaking, it is horribly horribly simple.

The Crucible Maze ddowiki.com is your friend. I might have a toon collecting dust in that level range, and if I do I'd be more then happy to do this. One of my favorite quests.
The Pit . Another one of my favorite quests, and as soon as I have a toon at that level again I'll open this up for it, unless someone beats me to it.
Id also be intrested in knowing any tactics that help with the Monastry of the scorpion puzzle , I can do all the shroud ones but the Monastry one dont seem to follow any pattern I can see and often revert to a solver .
That puzzle at the end works exactly like a Shroud puzzle, except the few random missing tiles screws it all up and makes it much harder than a Shroud puzzle. But mechanically it works exactly the same way.

Also big thank you for OP for this thread and sentiment
    in red
The Crucible and the Pit are great XP, which is why I like to run them at level. We don't have to do them at level mind you, but they're much more fun that way.

Is 9pm central the normal time you tend to log on ? I may need to leave it a few weeks until I am on late shifts at work again so I can stay up til 5 in the morning playing computer games

Don't worry about mucking up the thread. That's what it's for. If we get a request for something that you're willing to guide feel free to say so and start a sign-up.

Forgot my name, sorry. Will run it on Carinn, a cleric. If you're looking for more at-level, let me know and I'll bring someone else.
