What is the problem? You do the first quests and then move on to the final one.

Red fens = 3 quests in any order then last quest, no reflagging needed.

Threnal = long quest chain, one after another after another.

No problems.

Well, Threnal is a very old quest chain... Not very popular not just because of it's length, but more how easy it is to mess up... Nothing worse than running East and West just to find out you screwed something up, and have to run them both again to do south...

Red Fens is a new quest series, and reflects the direction turbine has been moving with regards to flagging/reflagging. Some older quests such as VoN and DQ have already been updated to reflect the change, others still need work. They haven't gotten to Threnal just yet.

Just abandon west after you're done with all the threnals and you can just do west + south for a new end reward. not ideal, but saves you the trouble of east.

Threnal needs a major polish pass. Its 'flagging' is even worse than the pre-epic flagging for DQ2 or VON6.

I'm not sure they should fix Threnal. The end rewards and random loot drops in South are very nice. If you only had to repeat south it would be a grind fest to get all the named loot.... And besides, who doesn't love Coyle?

Then again maybe you want a grind fest, it would mean the chain is played more often.

It has never been that simple with Threnal.

It's weird Turbine has made nearly every other aspect of DDO *easier* over the last two years, and yet they have not made Threnal's flag any easier.

Yeah is strange turbine hasn't easy buttoned threnal yet.
It could be the bad reviews from players that can't bother to find and walk to the quest giver and location.
Let alone reading the texts on your first run. What with all the players that want the quests shared, they can't play Threnal.
Maybe threnal will sell more if they fix it.

Agree Threnal is old, and is long - especially the library keeping that dumb dumb NPC alive for 15 borinnggggg minutes.

But actually Threnal is a good lesson learner for new players.. much like the Necro Crypts - read the dialogue when u update each part and don't repeat them.. you soon learn if you do repeat the flags before you have done the final (south) ruin or the end crypt in Necro 1,2,3 then ur basically screwed and you have to do all over in order to get onto the South ruins or the crypts.
Harsh lesson I know but you only really have to read the dialogue once or make the mistake once.. then you wont do it again, unless of course you never wanna see that Mantle of the Worldshaper in your inventory

there is only one big problem with the Threnal flagging:

if you have completed all 3 parts and want to do them again, you MUST reset south separately before you redo east or west. Becaus resetting south also resets east and west, so if you reset east and west and do them, then you want to accept south again, east and west are also reset.
This could easily be solved if resetting east or west would also reset south automatically.

Edit: Oh, and on topic. The developers have stated that Red Fens is how they 'want' flagging to work, I would really like it if they made Threnal like that. So very much. I would love to be able to just do those last two in order to get another chance at Retribution.

Well, My Red Fens is STILL broke, and the GMs tell me its not, and theres nothing I can do.

To recap, Ravenwing tells me to do Ta Prin's quest, even tho I've finished hers 5 times.

So I'm totally with the OP, and I hate even the NEW system, that seems to be just as easy (or easier) to break than the OLD!
