Default Scale Armor...the best kept visual secret.

So I'm likin' the various scale armors that I've bought (for things like Death Block...command, what have you) in terms of visuals.

Can't imagine why they need to go out of their way to build such crappy "skins" for armors when they could simply rob Peter to pay Paul. Scale armor is effectively useless in this game. It hasn't been given adamantine attributes, or mithral...I don't really see many folks running around in it (DT or bust). So...why not use it for skinning?

Wish I could link a pic I have of my bard (rockin' +3 Deathblock Scale mail of Command). I'll post once I figure it out...it really is pretty sweet.

Some chain armors are pretty nice looking as well.

I was always a fan of having the skin mechanic be interchangeable from 1 armor's appearance to another armor's effects. Looks like Turbine went another way, but /signed to the concept as a whole.

That's exactly what we were wondering over one of the many appearance-related threads around.

And the reason many among us think appearance models/textures should be freely interchangeable, irrespective of original armour type.

And... the reason I tend to buy elven chain - a marginally less useless armour - for most of my light-clad chars.

    ...

I can only hope they'll eventually create a true appearance customisation system - tied to favour/platinum.
