Default DDO client crashes when porting zoning

For a year or 2 my client has always crashed the first time I have entered the desert after logging in. After reconecting I can enter the desert without causing a crash most of the times. A few month ago my client started to crash much more often and involving almost every area not just the desert (harbour, marked, necro, orchard, the different houses). The client wont crash every time but every evening I play I get minimum 2-3 crashes depending on how many different areas I go into. This is getting very annoying. Anyone got a sollution to this? A lot of my guildies experience the same problem.

How many times do you change toons in the course of a night? Multiple toons changes causes a memory leak in DDO which typically leads up to a crash during zoning into n explorer area.

This has been known for a long time now. I typically restart my client after 3 toon changes or if I've been playing for a few hours.

I was having a similar problem, then read THIS thread which suggested setting your sound to "Software" instead of "Hardware" (if it isn't already). I did this, and I haven't had a single case of a crash since, no matter how many times I switch characters or change zones.

    Please post a dxdiag Ein:

Have you uninstalled the client; downloaded the latest version; defgramented your hard drive and installed to the default location (deleting your userpreferences.ini) ?
