Oh noes your DDO E-peen is 2 years bigger than mine, good job.
Actually.......what we did back in the old days is worked as a team over voice chat, brought pots so the cleric didnt feel like they were being a slave to teh group, and tactically advanced through a quest. we took notes (like in a PnP game) and planned how to pull monsters and take them down as efficiently as possible. we also did millions of loot runs for well-sought after items such as +5 full plate, +5 tower shields, or <GASP> +5 Mithral full plate!?! omg, there was a number of people that had THOSE you could count on one hand back then.

The problem with you young whipper snappers is that you didnt have to run a quest a unch of times to get the loot you need, so you didnt have to run the quests as much as we did, with the limited resources we had. Efficiency of resources was the key, not time.

Nowadays, like in my above example, if a new player has to wait for more than 5 minutes, he dc's cuz he's bored.

We used to just TALK to each other, and get to know each other.

    now get off my lawn.

Was Hordo mostly a soulstone in the old days, or is that a product of F2P?

Oh noes your DDO E-peen is 2 years bigger than mine, good job.
It has nothing to do with 2ys difference. It's the fact that you opened your pie hole and made a remark that you know nothing about. Only a noob is going to come on here and make a statement that I needed to be carried. I don't care if you've been on here for 1 month or 4+ years. Either way a comment like that made about me says one thing, and one thing only. You're a noob and you have no clue.

I'm by far not one of the most uber players on here, but I have always been able to carry my weight on here. More importantly I've always helped out the newbs who are willing to learn. I look at the AH and what people are buying for gear and think about the millions of plat I've given away in gear to newbs over the years. I don't regret it for 1 second and still give gear away to newbs who show the right attitude.

I'm not afraid of newbage. I embrace it. I can't stand noobage and won't tolerate it. My point is and was back in the day. A newb would join and we'd be excited to teach them and help them. If you joined an LFM and were new you said so, and you were taught the quest. Now you try to join and you have to pass a test. Or if it's your LFM and you bring a new person along and try to teach them you get nothing but grief.

So yes I miss the good old days when I could join a group or put up my LFM and it was going to be good times. When you've pugged 1/10 as much as me let me know. I know what it's like to pug and up until recently felt it was the best experience in the game. It's sad but I can't say that anymore.

I don't see why me or anyone else should have to prove their worth to join a pug. On the flip side I don't know why a new person can't let people know their new and take some advice and guidance. Instead they disreagerd directions do their own thing and screw up the quest. Their attitude is failure is an option and who cares if we do fail. This is fine if it's only 1 or 2 people in the group, we'll manage, but lately it's 4-5 of the people in the group. So it leaves one no option but to just solo. That's the cold hard facts of pugging on DDO these days.

I still try to teach the newbies at times, but now that I have gone f2p and am farming favor for tp to buy packs, I find myself just soloing more often than not. Hopefully when I get enough tp in the next couple months to be able to afford GH and Vale at least, I can start up my teaching runs again

And once I do get those areas I would be glad to run with you all again Oh, and ^.^ good thoughts

Sure there may be a lot of lfm's now, but they're all filled with coyles. Too bad there's no option to knock your fellow party members out.

I will say I have had better luck with pugs on ghallanda then I have on khyber but that could be play hours but even on khyber most of my pugs are fine except for tod lately cant find a decent tank anywhere lately no one can seem to hold aggro either through intim or hate.

This was a fun time considering my first ever DDO character was a rogue. Oh and getting him to level 10 (cap) and finding out no matter what I did, Diplo, subtle backstab, Bluff... you name it I could pull agro of people and die in seconds even with not dumping con was a great time also.

    Failing a quest ain't nice...

Now I try to have fun, no matter what
Either they are good at the game, and I get to watch real pros, and learn a new trick.
Or they suck at the game, whatever the reason, and I get to feel better, and maybe, even save the day.

Either way, I walk away a better person.
All in all it is good fun.

I so forgot about the old tutorial. That brings back memories for sure. The different training rooms and you'd actually get a little xp for those too.
