Default Man do I miss the old days.

I remember a time when if you saw an LFM and hit join and knew you were in for a fun run and the chances of failing were slim. Even if you did fail it wasn't a big deal since you were still running with good players and good people.

Todays DDO is entirely different. When you join a group you have no clue what your walking into. It may be a bunch of tards, or it may be the leader is a tard and is going to make you prove yourself before you can join. Keep in mind it's a quest that you know you can solo, you just felt like running with some company instead of soloing it.

I remember when all I would do is put up an LFM and know it was going to be fun. I would never solo. Now I don't even bother with an LFM. If I don't see anybody I know online. I just grab a pocket whatever and go run it by myself. It's sad where things have gone.

Back in the old days, did you have to run uphill, backwards, both ways in 3ft of snow with no boots to reach the quests? :P LOL

I like the chaos. It keeps things fresh. Would a real mercenary know whether his/her team was going to be competent or just a bunch of grass-green village kids? No. Moreover, it's always a nice surprise when 5 TR'd vets join up and help you murder a quest 2 levels above the party.

Maybe Turbine's pre-Epic reboot way to make quests harder was to make the game free and allow t00ls to play.

    I agree with OP.

Case in Point: trying to get a Gianthold: Trial by Fire group together,

One guildie, and me to start, i LFM, and get one guy.

while waiting and sending tells for healers, I get responses i just cant believe:

"Sorry, I'm only lvl 10 and i wouldnt survice out there (doing Trial by Fire on NORMAL?) I even told him i knew uit well and would teach him, his response: I'm a vet too and I know I would get destroyed in GH. ***?

    also.....

<after he asked me if it was for favor or XP> "Normally I would jump at the chance, but I'm trying to get TP up for alignment change, and I need 253 tp more to do that. ...............? ***?

Well, guy #3 in group DC's, so three of us go out (lvl 12, 12, and 10) with two clerics, and do TbF no sweat. Then we go on to Madstone and do it on Norm as well, with pocket clerics.

Disavowed, I'll send Sam Adams my toons names, and we'll group up. If you have a lvl 10-14, look me up in GH tonight.

SO you don't mind failing with people who know what they are doing, but hate failing with people who don't know what they are doing? HMMMMM??????

No. The difference is as I said, we RARELY failed and if we did by the way, it wasn't from doing a quest at level. It was from pushing the envelope. Back then we got extra XP for doing a quest that was above our level. So we would run quests like Stormcleave at level 4 for the big bump in XP (es that's level 4 not a typo). You see groups now days doing it with level 12's and still wiping. So if we failed it was because we pushed ourself to the edge and that's ok and acceptable. It's not ok to fail that quest at level or above level. there's a huge difference.

Now pugs fail on a regular basis when they are above the level of the quest. It happens so much that it's acceptable to fail. It's the norm not the exception. It was the exact opposite in the past. And as I said we pretty much only failed when we pushed the envelope and still we RARELY failed.

back in the day, i was a little rogue who found happytime in any quest. I recall you only having 1 toon as well as your wife. In fact I recall playing hooky one work day and running with you all day farming xoriat cypher (sic). and I pulled two planar girds back to back... yep still got em! lol, never pulled any after that.

Yeah, I miss the old days too.

3 LFM's total in the LFM window. Servers totally empty looking like a ghost town. Waiting for the day when you hit log in and find out they finally shutdown the the servers.

    Those old days were great.

Sure there may be a lot of lfm's now, but they're all filled with coyles. Too bad there's no option to knock your fellow party members out.
