Shaamis... shaamis... doll your sounding cranky... you need to drink more
Disavowed... we never do anything except Friday night shroud runs... but I have to admit, I am a newer player and can't say I know how it was in the "old days" I have only been playing for a year, but I know from my point of view, if its not fun, then I will not do it, so I tend to do things with people that I know that I will have fun with, so my toon doesn't have the best gear, or uber everything... for me its the journey to get there
Feel free to look me up when I am online.... Your knowledge will only make me a better player
Yeap, thats what I was thinking too. Getting shunted and merged onto different servers ruled, and as they pulled the plug on many of the older servers, to keep the lights on for a few of them who were now populated with the last few hold outs, I thought "man this is awesome."
I also thought reading the posts about merging all players into one large guild so we could raid when we all wanted to was awesome. Speed run? Pffft. It took 45 minutes to form the group!!!
I can vouch for this comment. Dis ran me through my first Hound, explaining what and why the whole way.
Although, being a new player who is semi-competent at this game, i will say that the "you are new and therefor suck" comments on these boards are getting a little stale ...
Thats the problem with you disadvowed you have been spending most your ddo life living in a puggers paradise.
Now Welcome to the Jungle!!!!!
Its all fun and games now!!!!!
This is the type of new player that we love to help.
The majority of vets don't mind if they screw up, cause a fail, don't know the quest. or forget to bring a UA item on a TS run...yes we might tease you and not let you forget it but its all in good fun...
Example: newbish player does not have a UA item and dies in the swim in Tempest Spine
instead of rage quitting and throwing a fit this person learned and remembers to this day to have a ua item
this person still get sent AU items in the mail...
note: this person who was naughty and forgot the UA item is now a great player and good friend...and also likes boots..
its learning the little things that help in the long run

That is what I love about pugging. It's always an adventure. Repetitive, successful runs with a bunch of overgeared, overbuffed characters gets old real fast. Failures are almost always memorable. otoh - Guild runs are always fun due to the friendly joking, and endless banter. That never gets old.

Minimize expectations and you'll never be disappointed
Nowhere did I say this was a bash the noobs thread. Look closely. I said you may join a group of tards. One doesn't have to be new to be a tard. I also said you may have to pass a test to join a run you can solo. Again that's not refering to a newb or a noob. If anything that would be a vet. My statement was that pugs these days just aren't worth joining. It seems like you're better off just running solo.
This used to be the server known for the awesome pug experience. It no longer is. That's what I said. Stop being so hypersensitive and thinking that I'm lashing out at you because you're new. It has nothing to do with noobs, newbs, or vets. It's a statement about the state of pugs on Khyber.
In the good old days pugs were much better. Newb, noob, or vet that's the facts. I miss those days and that's also a fact.

Interesting thing about F2P coming along, it brought in a LOT of new players, and IMHO saved DDO from more server mergers if not an eventual death!
It also broght in a lot of new issues. Old Vets vs new Players. Some of these new players really know their stuff, learn fast, and are now Vets with recent join dates.
Some other of these new players still have not gotten a headset (or a mic), dont ask questions, don't listen, don't bother to tell the leader this is their first time in the quest.
I remember coming back after my longest break from DDO - about 6 months while I was playing Age of Conan and then trying out Warhammer. I joined a Hound PUG and said right away I had been away and it was my first time. The leader explained what was going on, and what I should do and it went fine!
I also remember joining another PUG, think it was Vod, explaining the same thing - and I got booted with the leader saying "I have no time to explain this Raid to a noob". You know I think I am glad that jerk booted me, as I later found out he is a real ****** and I avoid him like the plague now anyway...
I think the real answer here is similar to what it was 'back in the day'. Some players are cool - and will work with the group as a team to "get er done". Others are not so cool - and will be jerks to new players (making them afraid to speak up) or are new players with a chip on their shoulder.
Interesting (and wonderful if you think about it ) problem we have these days - lots of players - some new, some old - TONS of LFM's up all the time, new quests regularly, and lots to do (ok, for most of us - I know some complain there is not - but for me there is - and this IS my post!).
The only problem we have is weeding out the jerks, and working with the new players (who are willing to be and/or need to be mentored) to get them up to speed and part of the new Khyber PUG pool!
Happy PUG'ing y'all!
