    Default Duelist Leathers Bland Looking?

I really like the stats on the Duelist Leathers, but the graphics of them just don't appeal to me at all.

Personally, I think event items should always look a bit unique. If we can't get new art assets than maybe something more like the Fencer's Garb out of Threnal could be used instead?

I wouldn't mind seeing the weapons get a visual upgrade either. They're all just generic skins with the exception of the dagger.

They look like **** so you'll buy an armour kit

I agree 100% with you though. Specialty armours should have a unique and appealing graphic.

Ya, that's awful. Guess turbines too busy designing their armor kits to make actual game armors look good :P

Funny thing is, I don't really enjoy any of the cosmetic kit styles for light armor either.

I don't think the style is really all that horrid as far as leather amors go but it could definately use some color and detail.

Embelish it with some red on the leather straps in front and the armguards and put a black skull where the rings are connecting all the leather straps in front and this would look like something i'd get from killing a bunch of pirates.

Event plate armor also looked very not cool (I had cooler looking random +4 Full Plate).

The only interesting looking item/weapon I saw was the dagger, which kind of looked like a twin-bladed knife. Actually, the graphic they used for the dagger seemed like it would be better suited on the shortsword to be honest.

Ugh it looks like a one piece unitard with a crossover shoulder accesory. Oh can't forget the evening gown/rocker arm sleeves! That really makes the outfit.

I wouldn't let my characters or a friend's character be caught dead in this. No amount of color will help it.

To get back on the subject, we have been asking for years for not just different but BETTER looking armor(s). The armor kits are NEVER going to give us what most of us want, which is true armor customization. I know that this is beating a dead horse, but to introduce a NEW, UNIQUE armor, ( I am looking at this, the Snakeskin Vest and the Crimson Chain, which got it's own new skin but is still terrribly ugly) then to have it look like the old newbie studded leather that we used to get at creation (a lot of you remember what I am talking about) is just plain lazy. I love this game, have for years (including the BETA), but to have this (and several other complaints) ignored for 5 years just really irritates me.

    Exactly.
If they designed half-decent armour skins in the first place, there wouldn't have been such a public outcry for new models (which resulted in TP-purchasable armour skins).

    It's just sad, really.
With the legacy that D&D has, there are literally hundreds of thousands of pictures/images out there of fantasy armour, some of which is *phenomenal*. They have such a wealth to draw from.

And yet, we get that as "epic duelist leathers".
    Oh my.

With that kind of half-arsed attempts at their job, I'm just glad the art team didn't decide to be neurosurgeons.

There are heaps of random armours that look really cool (some of the ones like splint mail which no-one wears) the main thing most (generalising here) people were expecting armour customisation wise was what LOTRO has, a cosmetic armour slot.

Instead we got armour kits so everyone can still look the same.

Beyond a few noteworthy exceptions, has armor is this game ever looked good?

I would love to see whatever team/person/cubicle-gerbil at Turbine who is in charge of the armor graphics be re-tasked, and somebody with some appreciable aptitude for the job brought in. If it would help - I would buy more useless tiddlywinks from the Store to help fund their salary.

I mean really... it's gotten to the point where the bad armor graphics have gone beyond an annoyance. There are a lot of other games out there that are less fun then this one - but the characters look good and is one of the reasons why people play them. Shame that this development team has yet to catch on to this.

I remember when I got my first +5 Mith. FP, I think the cap was still 10 or 12. I was sooo excited...until I put it on. I ended up SELLING it for what was then an ungodly amount of GOLD because I just could not bring myself to wear it.

It seems that whoever designs armor in this game assigns all the armor pieces to a d20 for each armor type then after rolling 4 or 5 times puts together the armor graphics based on the dice roll. This game has the worst armor graphics of any game I have played. I would rather have my 1999 NWN 1 armor graphics then what the devs use in this game.
