Yea the mephit (Palumak?) and thirsty are the chests you can get the bloodstone in. It drops more frequently in the mephit chest. Pulled 2 there so far (in 2 years of trying). I run it til I get both chests 5x then wait for reset. Do it every week.

Thirsty chest pops a lot less frequently.

Spell storing ring drops in the general's chest (edge of map, last chest on desert side). I've gotten one of those.

Keep the faith. You'll get one eventually. It pays to roll up a wizard or sorc alt to do this farming with ;-p 5 minutes per run, if that.

I've pulled 2 Bloodstones in the last year or so =)

Usually run to Mephit, then to Thirsty (checking the Mummy on the way, then head to Oozan, then Genral, then run for the Greaves chest. Using Invisibilty and enough haste clickies, it takes roughly 5 minutes to complete the circuit.

That is definitely faster in solo..
It's even faster if you have 2 hirelings, and alternate which one you summon. Because if you're not killing along the way, the first summon will have too much time to wait before you can summon him again.
Fast runs, and the first timer will be just finishing when you want to start the third run. I can get about 32 runs in an hour with 2 [different] hirelings instead of 1.
    Guaranteed ransack in an hour.

In the same boat... Capped the Desert for Slayer in each (to give you an idea of how much time I spent out there...) for 1 character (1st/2nd life), another 1 (1st life), and another one (1st life)...all to no luck. 4 slayer capped characters (9000 kills each...)...with oodles and oodles of chests checked... and no BS. Yet, I have pulled dozens of Dusk Hearts, Bows, Dycata (sp), all sorts of Scorrow loot, .... pretty much everything out there at least once... and only 1 Ring of Spell Storing too. I've ransacked those 2 chests so many times I had a notepad next to my keyboard so that I knew which day to start over again with ransacking. Hell, I have better luck getting Spectral Gloves in OOB. I was giving them away at one point.

Yet, a guildie of mine has pulled 4 Bloodstones and hardly ever goes out there. And another couple have pulled them either before I enter the group..or just after I log for the night. Which drives me crazy!

I got 2 more characters I am running thru the Desert now... and have just started the slayers/rares runs.... I'm hoping for better luck. Cuz, its my White Whale in the game right now....

You know...Epic Devil Assault, Shroud and Sins are much better loot runs. Much faster and easier to farm 2-3 scales to trade for a Bloodstone than farm the desert chests.

Lol, I ran Palumaks chest 87 times before I got my first bloodstone and the Generals 217 times before I got my first RoSS.

This was back before they made the change for the bloodstone to drop in the Thirsty One's chest. Since they made that change, I've pulled another 4.

    Default PULLED the Bloodstone

Even a blind squirrel can find a nut.

Decided to clean up some of the characters. Getting tired. Was going to call it a night but all I needed was one more Palumak to have ransack on his(it's) chest.

I run a character until I get ransack on Palumak.

    During this final cleanup
    Palumak - 10 chests
    Whirling Ozann - 10 chests
    Thirsty - 4 chests
Thumok the Mad - 2 chest
    General - 8 chests
    No rares runs - 2

Coronation shields - 3 (2 on one run)
    duskheart - 1
    dynastic falcata - 1
Bow of the Elements Air - 1
BLOODSTONE - Thirsty chest on the last and final run and final chest of the night. The quest is over.
