Default lack of achievement for the bloodstone

I decided to try and get my first bloodstone on Ghallanda. I have ten characters eligible and running them through. I have only ran six so far.

So far, I have ran six through the slow process. I hit the five RARE chests for loot. Maybe I can score a Ring of Spell Storing while going for the Bloodstone.

    HA!!!

    Palumak the Scourer 46 chests
    Whirling Ozann 40 chests
    Thumok the Mad 28 chests
    Thirsty 20 chests
    General 20 chests
    No Rares Appeared 8 runs

    Named Loot Pulled
    Duskhearts - 2
Bow of the Elements AIR - 1
    Coronation Shield - 1

Nothing else. A complete lack of Achievement. I must sacrifice myself more, to appease the loot gods on Ghallanda.

As far as I know, Thumok's and Ozann's chest do not drop either Bloodstone or RoSS.

I agree they do not drop, but would you skip them to save time?

Agreed, they don't offer the uber named loot, but they are easy access on the run between The Thirsty One and The General. Only adds about 2 mins to the overall run. So I usually hit those anyway just for the vendor trash.

As an added benefit, it gives me satisfaction to kill something when Bloodstone or ROSS doesn't appear in the chest. Just a little extra way to blow off a little frustration.

Default other loot can drop in those chests

I know for fact the higher level IOUN stones drop in them because I pulled a Deep Red Ioun Stone from Whirling Ozann. If I did not run that chest, then I would not have pulled it.

Sure, if you don't want to hit Whirling Ozann or Thumok, you can. But if I am that close to Thirsty and Thumok is there, I might as well go for it.

I been running this for the last 2 years looking for a bloodstone and no sucess

I did pull my first ever RSS two days ago though, was a joyous moment.

Also, I agree on checking all 5 over there. Not worth missing, I would say it adds 30 secs on a 4 min run... why not hey.

Is the expected cash outcome of running these things better than farming higher-level stuff?

I'm saying because I'm getting sick of repeatedly getting chests full of junk loot. Hell I can run the super low level Relic of Sovereign Past for 15 adamantine ore and get a rock solid (haha) guaranteed 15-20k pp in 10-15min, x50 runs = enough to buy a bloodstone off the AH. This is for a crappy level 12 quest on casual. Surely there's a better way than crawling through the desert until your fingers fall off.

Is just a random drop like anything else. I've seen people in past pull them back to back. I have quite a few of them a few dropped for me and a few given to me.

For opening only 20-40 chests each, you've not got a bad average going as far as named loot from the undead section of the desert goes. Some people have looked for literally years and opened hundreds upon hundreds of chests to no avail. I've pulled two Rings and three Bloodstones in all the years since the desert came out, and I've tried pretty hard to get em.

Keep trying and you'll get what you are looking for. Eventually. But, this is in no way even a dubious achievement after so few runs.

It doesn't have to be slow.
    Buy a hireling.
    Go solo.
Make the circuit of the three, possibly adding the other 2 if you're moving quickly.
When you're done, enter either the Tomb of the Astrologer or Wiz King.
    Summon the hireling.
    Leave the quest.
Because you "joined a party" while inside the quest, the instance has reset for you.
Dismiss the hireling. Make the run again.

You have the hireling for 60 minutes, and you'll usually be waiting for the 5 minute timer to reset while in the quest waiting to summon him again. The circuit of three takes about 3.5 minutes from either of those two quests as a starting point, and that's a slow pace for me.
That's 20 runs in an hour. You could have run all 6 of those toons to ransack on three chests in approximately 6 hours.

I ran so many bloodstone runs a few years ago, that when I opened a chest it was *sigh* Still nothing... Whoa wait a sec. what was that... Oh wow, that actually is it... But I'll never forget being disappointed got so ingrained into me, that I actually was disappointed when it actually dropped.... I think they should add bells and whistles and confetti when you actually pull one...

Only works if you're solo though, so I do all of my Bloodstone farming solo.

    Great tip! +1

That is definitely faster in solo.

But you can't take away the fun of running with a friend, you both feel the frustration, double your pain, and if it drops, bully her!

ALL YOUR BLOODSTONES ARE MINE! MUWAHAHAHAAH!! Oops, sorry, got carried away.

I know it takes longer but I add the greaves chest as it is a good item and I have pulled 3 greaves and only 1 bloodstone and 2 ss rings
